Winter is an important time of rest, renewal, and alignment with your dreams. Last week, we discussed the importance of rejuvenating your energy at the start of the year and how it can help set you up for better success as the year continues. To go along with this idea, I have invited my daughter back to the blog to share a favorite way to practice this mindset that allows you to dream bigger and focus more on alignment.

Make a vision board
I’m a big believer in manifesting your desires and attracting the things you want when you align with them. We’ve talked a little bit about manifesting on the blog recently, and many of you wanted to know more about what manifesting entails. To sum it up, manifesting is all about setting the intention for something you want and cultivating the energy of that intention to help attract it into your life. Many people do this through journaling, meditation, or affirmations, but one of my favorite ways is through a vision board.
Vision boards are not only a fun project to do that can help you get inspired, but they’re also great for helping you become more mindful and intentional with your goals. It clarifies what you want and is a big way of aligning with the goals and saying to the Universe, “I’m ready.”
Whether you do a digital vision board or make a physical version, here’s an easy step-by-step guide for creating the perfect vision board for 2024 to help you align with your goals and manifest your dreams.
1. Take time to connect with your vision
Start by taking some time to look within yourself and determine what you want your vision board to contain. You should move slowly with this step and allow yourself time to discover what you really want.

One way to do this is to picture your happiest life in terms of your job, relationship, health, home life, hobbies, family, and so on. A few questions you could ask yourself for this could be: Am I currently working my dream job? If not, what would my dream job be? If I’m unhappy in my relationship, what needs to change for me to be happiest? What hobbies do I want to welcome into my life? What places do I want to travel? Etc. Try to go through each different aspect of your life to find what your happiest life would be to better paint this picture. The more specific you are, the easier it will be for you to align. Relaxing activities like journaling, meditating, or other mindful practices are also great during this time to help you find what your heart desires.

2. Choose images that inspire you for your vision board
Next, it’s time to choose your images to represent these goals and dreams. You can pick from magazine photos, photos online, postcards, or anything else to capture the perfect vision. The most important thing to remember for this step is to only pick positive images of things you want to manifest so that you can focus on only bringing that good energy into your life. Be sure to keep anything negative, or that makes you feel inadequate off your vision board.
A good example is if you want to attract more happiness, you might pick a photo of someone laughing and experiencing joy. Or, if you want to attract your dream job, you might choose a photo of someone who’s working the job you want and looks happy doing it. It doesn’t have to be complex and can be as simple as you’d like.

Once you pick your photos, you can add captions to them and get specific to what this image means to you. An example could be a photo of someone traveling to a far-off country, meaning, “I manifest traveling this year.” Or, if it’s a photo of someone relaxing, you could add a caption such as, “I manifest more restful moments this year.” And so forth. And if your goals change throughout the year, that’s okay, too. You can simply add new images you want to align with as time goes on. The most important thing for this step is to find images that have meaning to you and accurately represent what you want so that you can more easily align with them.
3. Pick out motivational quotes and words of affirmation to include
Next, you’ll want to pick out some quotes and affirmations that you can print or write on your vision board. This can be affirmations of things you want to attract into your life, such as “I am abundant. I am happy in my life, job, and mentality,” or it can also be a quote that serves as motivation reminders, such as, “I can do this,” “I am strong,” “I am capable.” etc. Add as many quotes and affirmations as you like so that every time you look at your vision board, you feel happy, powerful, and ready to take on whatever lies ahead.

4. Decide your vision board layout
Next, you’ll need to start putting everything together, so you’ll want to figure out what layout you want to go with. Some people collage their vision boards and overlap all their images and quotes across the whole board; others separate ideas and goals into different areas. I prefer to keep it neat and organized because it helps me to better focus on my intentions, but if you prefer a more energetic and full appearance, that’s okay too.

There’s no right or wrong way to do it, so just go with what feels best to you so that you have an easier time connecting your thoughts and intentions with it.
5. Get creative with your vision board
Now that you have all the different areas of your vision board mapped out, it’s time to decorate. This is the part where you can let your imagination run free and get creative, welcoming in colors, designs, and textures that brighten up your board and bring joy to you.
This could mean making an intricate border around it, adding ribbon or twine, placing stickers or art pieces, sketching or adding paint, adding flowers or pieces from nature, or anything else that makes your board pleasing to your eye and helps you connect with it better. This is also a great step to include pieces that are more than just decor but that align with your goals as well. For example, if you want to manifest more money, you might place a dollar bill on your board to represent that. If you want to manifest more beach vacations, place a shell on there. Whatever speaks to you and your goals, make sure you add it.
Of course, you don’t have to get crafty if it doesn’t feel right to you, and you can leave the decorating part of it out of it. The important thing to remember is that this is your vision board, so you want to craft it in a way that makes sense to you. The more you base it around what you connect with, the more aligned it becomes to you and your vision.

6. Bring your dreams to life
Lastly, creating a vision board is only the first step to manifesting your dreams; the other part is you have to believe in it, know that you are worthy of everything on it, and make an effort towards bringing it to life each day.
Wake up every day, look at your vision board, and get excited over the ideas and all your potential. Say “yes” to new opportunities, “yes” to your dreams, and “yes” to your happiest self, and try to take small steps towards reaching this life every day. Allow yourself to dream and focus on seeing yourself living and thriving in this vision you’ve created. And, of course, make sure you’re embodying the feelings of happiness surrounding it, letting go of all doubt and fear each time you do.
When you believe in your dreams, you align with all that you need to make them a reality, and it helps you to become more conscious and intentional in taking steps to get there. Focus on it each day with love, happiness, and determination within you, and remind yourself you are capable and deserving.

A vision board is a great project to help you align with your goals. Finding images and quotes that match your dreams will serve as a positive reminder each day of what you’re working towards and help you align more with it. It can also help you come up with new ideas for achieving your dreams and welcome new opportunities in your life. More than anything, a vision board is a great reminder to you every day of what you want and what you’re capable of. You have the power toachieve your dreams.
Focus on them, believe in them, and nurture them into your life, and you’ll be there before you know it.
