I fall in love with many things every day. I will admit that even though I am sorting through things to downsize some of my collections, I am also always finding new fabulous things that talk to me.
And a big weakness? Chairs.
Upholstered. Wood. Metal. Floral chintz fabric covered, rattan- I could go on and on.
Why a chair talks to me when it does usually comes down to a couple of things. I have either been searching for one just like it for a setting in our home. I have fallen in love with the style, shape, patina or something about the chair and can’t leave it behind. Or my camera and I see some magic in the making.

A Dusty Old Chair & My Camera
Yes, I talk about my camera as if it is an extension of me. And it is. I see things a certain way and pick up my camera to capture them to share with others. As a photographer, I always say that part of what happens when you first pick up a camera is a bit of chatter back and forth while you get to know each other. Once you have an understanding of each other and how you each work, you are bonded, the magic starts to happen with the captures.
So when I saw this hunter green farm chair- I saw beautiful photos and magic happening. I knew that my camera would agree and we would take dozens of photos with that delightfully simple chair.
Pink flowers popping against the dark green. A golden field with the chair draped in tulle and a flower crown and a pair of old boots. A field of flowers with a basket. A patina covered barn backdrop and a quiet moment. This dusty old thrift store chair had potential for creating magic.

I pointed to it while shopping with my husband and he was not in love. I will give him that I tend to lean more towards well loved patina than something that shines. Unless it is metal like silver or something along those lines. The chair finish is a tad glossy- looking a bit more freshly painted with a lacquered paint. Though underneath, it showed layers of other colors, a few cracks and some wear on the back of it. The shine didn’t deter me, I just set it out in the sun for a few days and the dull a bit and it started to chill. Aside from the photos I was already setting up and taking in my mind while I shopping, I knew I wasn’t leaving a lovely old green farm chair behind. I have an affinity for green as we have recently chatted about here. and on that note- can you see this little green beauty in the attic? Perfect. So it was a yes for me from the get go- and so, this $10 chair came home with me.

A Floral Magic Moment
I have yet to haul it into a golden field, but I did plop some fresh garden roses and peonies on it and place it in front of those outrageously large old front doors I recently picked up. ( I told you… seeing potential for something is like my middle name) The mingle is magic. And my camera captured the magic even better than I saw it.

What do you think- do you think that a $10 dusty old green farm chair was a good purchase? And about those doors… will jump in and talk about those soon too.
Score! The color is gorgeous!
