When it comes to beautiful unique candle holders- you have so many options to choose from. From little butter pat dishes with tea lights to decanters with a taper candle and more. I love something that is unique and interesting and unexpected on the table. Because, something different is a conversation waiting to happen, magic waiting to unfold and is just plain fun. Today we are taking a closer look at this table setting and the details and how I made these lovely old wine bottle candle holders that look like they have been on dozens of tables for gatherings- but were so easy to make in a few minutes.

Unique Candle Holders
These are so much fun and so easy to make. As I mentioned, you could use any kind of a special bottle from a water bottle to a wine bottle to a decanter and more. The key is to use something you are not worried about getting covered in drips and splats of wax. These bottles were perfect for saving and using for these candle holders.

While you can of course, collect those layers of wax after lighting candles for dinner parties often, you can also speed up the look if you want an instant charming look on the table. Simply grab a few different taper candles, in various or same colors, etc. set down some paper or other kind of barrier to protect from wax and place your candle vessel on that.
I place the dinner party candle in the bottle first and then light the other candles and start dripping them above. The wax will naturally start to run down and create channels, little valleys and ‘hills’. Change to different colors for different layers or just keep on with your candles until the bottle is covered in lovely old wax patina and charm.

On the Table
I placed the finished bottle candle holders tucked into the garland and marching down the table. I love the mingle of them with this garland centerpiece- which is one I designed for Balsam Hill – this is my French Market Collection Garland (almost sold out for the season!)

I also added another French Market garland overhead in the lights for a little more foliage drama.
A lace cloth with vintage floral plates and goblets and it was a lovely little setting for a summer gathering.

What do you think of using something like a bottle as a candle holder?
Happy Wednesday friends.
