I am all about tables layered with lovely & lots of inspiration. Today we are talking about layers of lovely on the table for summer entertaining.
Magic Filled Layers on the Table
Todays post is the first in a summer series that is all about how to get the look with style guides and shopping lists to make it easy to create your own beautiful versions. I just ordered a few new linens that I am excited to share for the next post- they might be some of my favorites so far. Though I am waiting to play with them a bit- a little out of commission with a rotator cuff injury so I am not getting too much physical work done (let alone typing too long) so please bear with me and stay tuned for the linens in the next table style look soon.
For todays post- I updated some of the links and details to share a bit more of this favorite look. You can find those below.

Lovely Layers
When I start layering a table for a gatherings- I start with ideas for all the layers. For this particular table- it was inspired by something on the bed. A beautiful delicate crochet bedspread that just quietly whispered that it also belonged on the table. And so, to the table it went. If you are familiar with my book Inspired Gatherings– which is all about gatherings and tables- you might remember the crochet bedding I used on the table in the field also- it is a favorite way for me to use them.

I love. love, love the details- the edging and the intricate pattern and the fact that since it is a big bed sized piece- it was perfect for draping and covering this extra long chunky table.
Ambiance and Amber Hues

Can I just tell you how obsessed I am with these goblets? I have always loved the warmth of amber glass- and when you add in the pressed details- well – it takes it to another level. I love these goblets so much – I *might* have bought them in more than one color. Can you blame me? They are so.pretty.

And those paired with gilded etched wine stems that have just a hint of gold in the glass- that just takes me to beyond obsessed. And would you believe that both of these wine glasses are brand new- even though they look vintage? Yes, indeed. Shop the Amber Goblets Here & Shop the Vintage Gilded Wine Stems Here
A little Pixie Dust
Let’s talk about fairy lights. Those magical little strings covered in dainty little lights that just seem to float here and there. I added 5 strands of those fairy lights to the center of the table for a touch of magic.
What I love about these fairy lights: They add another layer of magic to the table. Simple and sweet and so easy to add -it is like a sprinkle of pretty that adds the perfect amount of extra ambiance.

I love the way the float and flit about and seem to dance behind the glasses and flowers. Shop these Fairy Lights Here
The Lanterns
For a little extra ambiance – I also added a few candles and 4 little gold lanterns with candles inside. I love how they add a bit of warmth as they glow. Shop these Lanterns here

The Flowers
There is just something about those big and beautiful flowers on the table- but sometimes you just want something small and sweet also. I found these darling little green jars and plopped a few strawflowers inside of them.
What I love about these jars: Petite in size but big on personality – these little jars are perfect for layering in the centerpiece of the table and also as place setting bouquets for guests to take home with them.

The Chairs
Little rattan French bistro chairs mixed with our dining room cane chairs create a casual mingle that is comfortable as well.

What I love about these chairs: They are natural color, inexpensive and they are real rattan and caning rather than the plastic variety.
I might have 4 more on the way – they are so pretty. Shop the Bistro Chair Here

Layers of Lovely and Magic
As you can see with this table- it is all about the layers, the lovely and the magic coming together to create something beautiful. When styling your next summer gathering- think about the little details and things that your guests will takeaway.

The ambiance and conversations, the dainty jar of flowers gift, the magical feeling that makes them feel like the treasured friend that they are.

Absolutely gorgeous! Nobody sets a table like you do. Amazing.
Gorgeous!
I love the dripping CANDLES. What do you do to keep from ruining your tablecloth as the candles drip?
You can use a wax paper or place them on a small dish if you are worried about drips. These candles didn’t really drip off the stick base this time- but they have been known to do that before & have picked the wax off when it has dried.
So pretty Courtney! Do you have a link for the patio lights?
thanks so much for the inspiration here…lovely!!

I have thought about pulling out my grandmother’s old crocheted tablecloths but felt they were too dated. Recently I threw one over our wood and canvas hammock under the trees for a garden party. Thanks for the confidence to pull them out and use them on the table outside!
Hello! Love the chairs. Looks like they’re indoor, but i see you have yours outDoor. Do you keep them outside? If so, how have they held up?
