Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly -and lots of berries and nostalgic country cottage goodness. Ok. That was a mouthful. haha. But this tree folks. This tree is talking to me right now and is inspiring ALL KINDS OF OLD FASHIONED COUNTRY CHRISTMAS TREE GOODNESS.
Are you ready for the 2nd Tree in this years French Country Cottage 12 Trees of Christmas?
Country Christmas Tree
Well, okay. It isn’t really country inspired. More like country cottage inspired. The key here? That bold red and white checked tree skirt. And the secret? It isn’t a tree skirt folks. It is a few yards of fabric that I wrapped around the tree.

Tip: Think outside the box when it comes to holiday decor. Use what you have on hand that inspires you- even if it seems crazy- like a couple yards of fabric as a tree skirt.

Whimsy on the Tree
I love a tree that has some whimsy to it. Something that takes all that glam and gorgeousness and adds a little giggle. Or a little surprise. This one has layers of beautiful vintage inspired ornaments mixed with vintage ornaments and berry picks.

Vintage Whimsy: I tucked in a few vintage plastic glittery reindeer and gold and red glittery stars that are thrift store finds.
Something natural. I also added some fresh rose hips along with the faux berries to bring in a bit of nature. Yes. As in clipped from the branches of roses rose hips. I had a couple bunches on hand from a floral project and decided why not. And I absolutely love how they add even more fun.

Vintage Christmas Tree Ornaments
This tree has a mix of vintage Christmas and vintage inspired Christmas elements.

I love the charming little nostalgic ornaments with trees and wreaths – and the simple touches in the vintage classic ornaments and mercury glass garland.
The Mantel Decor
Berry and greens garland and wreath- I kept it super simple on the mantel just echoing the beautiful rich reds and greens in the tree.

Layers of Christmas Cheer

The key to a tree that has oodles of charm and interest is layers. I love to layer on the tree- sometimes those layers look like shades in the same family- and other times – they look more bold and beautiful with pops of color that echo with different shapes, sizes and styles of ornaments on the tree.
