Autumn.
Warm sweaters.
Boots.
Chunky knits and tartan plaids.
Colorful falling leaves,
and that fresh crisp air all around.
Fall brings an abundance of treats for the senses.
From the smell of a warm fire burning in the fireplace
to the shades of colors in the leaves that fall from the trees
landing around your feet.
Here in California,
we enjoy a warm fall season most of the time
but there has been a definite crispness in the air the past couple of days
and even a few rain drops have fallen- hopefully helping some of the fires.
But other signs of fall in the air- like… pumpkins?
Not so much.
They have been a little hard to find so far this year with just a few appearing in the stores so far
but
I am embracing the bit of autumn that has arrived
and am thrilled to be joining the Finding Fall Home Tour.
If you are stopping by from Home Stories A to Z
Welcome!
Such a gorgeous tour and I am pretty much in love with her sweet pup!
If my blog is your first stop-
to find Mondays and Tuesdays houses-
because you definitely don’t want to miss them.
And there will be more houses coming your way all week.
Okay, let’s just jump on in and take a peek at the touches of fall
that have appeared around our home already this season.
I will share each room in much more detail in separate posts- so this is just a few photos
and I will keep the chatter to a minimum.
I am in a huge quiet decorating mood lately.
Maybe it is because I have had construction with the bathroom
or just the busy of summer
but – simple and sweet is definitely carrying over into fall decor.
Honestly, I like seasonal decorations to be natural touches
rather than taking over a room or the house.
The first stop is the living room.
I kept the colors simple and sweet and natural as usual.
I have a huge love of decorating with natural elements for every season
but it seems with fall- it is even more so.
This year- it is all about warm neutrals.
Acorns gathered from our yard
fresh eucalyptus branches and faded dried roses
mingling with copper and little white pumpkins make up the mantel decor.
It is simple and sweet.
Our living room is very soft in color
and the copper and fresh eucalyptus adds the perfect amount of
warmth and charm.
Across the room
is the antique French buffet deux corps
I normally just add seasonal greens to the whites
because, I love the lines of the buffet and feel simplicity here is perfect.
Antique copper mingles with the whites
and even a few pumpkins are making an appearance.
In the dining room-
an antique wood tool caddy filled with rosemary & eucalyptus works as a centerpiece.
and fresh fruit is always gorgeous mixed in.
In the bedroom
The bedding changed from a crisp summer floral to more warm floral tones
with a touch of taupe and berry.
and on the nightstand I brought in one of my favorite roses- Esperance
softly fading and smooshy but beautiful even so.
In the office
there are those sunflowers I shared yesterday making an appearance.
I love to use dried flowers for decoration- especially in autumn.
Roses, sunflowers and larkspur mingling together
with a stack of antique books
and a couple wee pumpkins and acorns.
In the kitchen- not too much autumn appearing just yet so
sharing party prep for a romantic autumn inspired get-together
Fresh fruit, a wedge of blue cheese
and a cake topped with fresh blackberries- yes please.
and those soft hued flowers waiting in the sink?
Well… they were perfect for the outdoor autumn table setting.
Outdoor dining
Thinking romantic autumn –
rich purples & aubergines and fresh greens in copper.
With a few pumpkins mixed in.
Across the yard- is the guest cottage
and the front door got a burst of color for a recent styling job
so thought I would mix it in.
I hope you enjoyed a peek at some of the Fall appearing at our home right now
and I will sharing more of each room
and other spaces I haven’t shared yet along with a tour of the guest cottage soon
but for now
stop by and visit the gorgeousness over at
and
And something fun~
our friends at Better Homes and Gardens are joining the tour as well!
