Summer style is all about fresh, bright, light and airy- with a bit of bold & beautiful tossed in.
I love to re-style and redo the house with the seasons- and in summer it is all about gathering up that wonderful sunshine energy and bringing it into the house. I am working on a couple of changes right now- we just painted the office yesterday and are working on redoing that set on antique furniture- so stay tuned for those new looks and a mini summer home tour coming your way. Today it is about a few styling tips for some of your favorite areas in our house-and shopping Prime Day & sale looks below the photos to recreate as well. (affiliates) Note that some links are exact items-others are options to get a similar look.
Dining Room Cupboard
Florals, brass accents and stacks of pretty- the shelves in the dining room cupboard are always changing to fit the seasons. But they have some of my favorite things always on repeat as well.
Layers & Echoes- The brass serving dome is such a beautiful way to bring a bit of elegance- and it ties in perfectly with the echo of brassy gold in the brass goblets and gilded wine stems on the table.
Something Fresh- Bring in something fresh to the shelves for a burst of summer. Wander the garden to see what is blooming or clip greens and fill a vase or pitcher.
Stacks of pretty- Plates, books, wood pedestals- stack a few things and place them on the shelves to add some height and interest.

Barn Bedroom
Though the barn is not a bedroom currently, the look in here is all about country chic summer style. From the whitewashed wood walls to the cowboy boots- I shared this room last week and had lots of questions about where to find the pieces to get this look.
Add something whimsical – The boots at the foot of the bed, the chandelier in a rustic space, the curtains as a headboard- think about ways you can add something unexpected or whimsical to a styling to bring a welcoming charm.

Layers of Lovely
Because, I am all about layers of lovely & comfy in the bedroom. I shared the bedroom styled for summer recently- and shared that yes indeed I do have that velvet quilt on the bed even now. Even with the 100+ temperatures this week when it definitely was not needed- I kept it on the bed because I love the look. Shop the look below & see more on summer bedroom style tips HERE

In The Kitchen
Favorite ways to style the kitchen for summer seem to always involve 3 things. Fresh flowers, Copper & Cutting Boards.
Bring The Garden Inside- Bring those fresh flowers, blooming branches, and greens inside. A simple pot of blooms on the island or counter instantly warms up the kitchen.
Add copper for a bit of elegance and stack up wood cutting boards for warmth and charm.

In the Living Room
I tend to keep the living room looking the same year round- with white linen, a touch of gold and nature. I find that when I have a neutral backdrop & layers- the crisp white walls, the white linen slipcovers, shades of barely there color pillows- the room flows together and feel restful rather than busy.
For summer style- think about lightening and brightening up your living room. Bring in soft shades of pillows, natural accents like a vintage rug or throw on the back of the sofa and even dried eucalyptus is perfect. You can also add something like an olive tree for a touch of pretty.

Quick Change
Swap the living and dining rooms for a quick seasonal change and a fresh perspective.
I loved having the table in front of the fireplace for a bit- and sitting on the sofa in a different area of the room offers a different point of view when relaxing too. Though not all the room changes stay for too long- it is fun to switch things around for a bit.

Patio Style
Taking my coffee outdoors in the morning is one of my favorite parts of the day. I love to spend as much time as I can outdoors working and playing- and this little spot is one that it always enjoyable.
Create a backyard getaway- Add a fountain and a place to sit and visit and relax. I love to use 4 chairs instead of larger outdoor pieces – and also like to incorporate natural elements like a tree stump for a table.

On the Table
I shared this pretty vintage inspired table recently- and these things are perfect for enjoying all summer long. Whether you mix up the glassware to go more with your florals or colors- use vintage plates in place of new or just want to add something fun like dried flowers.
Bring in the Ambiance- Always my go to first thing with outdoor stylings- ambiance. Twinkle Lights, Candles, Lanterns – they all bring such warmth and charm to a table or outdoor setting.

*Sigh*
My blood pressure just went down. Thank you, Courtney. So beautiful!
Excellent post Courtney! Thank you so much for all of your ideas along with resources as always! Still longing to see more of your Little cottage interior updates. ♥️
Simply stunning. You have a great eye For detail. Ilove the lion FOUNTAIN and all the items that make up the garden setting. Do you get to enjoy it at night?
Were. Live we get ate up with mosQuitoes.
Thank you! We do sit outside every evening- we use citronella candles and a natural eucalyptus spray if the mosquitos are bad. Since we are so dry here in summer- they are mostly out in spring and are not too crazy most of the time.
Love the way you styled your hutch, quite perfect! Table in front of it is lovely as well.
What kind of flower is that in the pot sitting on the grounD, Quite short with small white FLOWERS and LEAVES sort of resembling rosemary? Thanks
I think you mean the pot on the patio outside? I believe it it potted with Bacopa (trailing down the side more) and Alyssum.
Yes of course. I have grown both in the past but forgot that alYssum had leaves like that. Thank you for taking the timE to reply. They look wonderful especially in that pot. Sometimes small and neutral look the Loveliest, i once had a book that showed flowers in different vases and containers, what an eye opener i remember thinking wow my lily of the valley never looked like that….it was the vase. Very interesting book.
HI COURTNEY: I HAVE FOLLOWED YOU FOR A LONG TIME AND WHEN YOU GOT YOUR CHANDELIER FOR THE BARN, I EMAILED YOU TO SEE WHERE YOU GOT IT AND ALSO WHICH MODEL NO. IT HAD. I FOUND THAT THE BARN CHANDELIER CAME FROM LAMPS PLUS AND I ASSUMED I WOULD ALWAYS ORDER IT FROM THERE. NOW YOU ADVERTISE AMAZON FOR THE CHANDELIER, ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE. I AM STILL INTERESTED IN A DUPLICATE OF YOUR BARN CHANDELIER. IS IT TRUE THAT IT IS FROM LAMPS PLUS? I WOULD APPRECIATE A REPLY FROM YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Hi Shirley! Yes that exact one is from Lamps Plus- they no longer sell the exact one I have. I found the one here by searching for something similar to get the look- and yes as mentioned in the post- todays post is about finding things at Amazon- since it is Prime Day today and tomorrow. Hope that helps!
Beautiful! Love the outdoor fountain! Creations of a beautiful space brighten my day!! Thank you
Love your work!
