Cozy autumn ambiance is in the air and today we are talking about how to create a beautiful autumn ambiance for your next gathering- or just for enjoying everyday.

Cozy Autumn Ambiance
When I think of cozy autumn- I think of all the candlelight, flickering lanterns, warm fire in the fireplace and wrapping up in a warm blanket to soak it all up. And when it comes to entertaining- it is all about that cozy ambiance and creating that feeling also.

Whether you are setting a beautiful table out under the stars or enjoying a gathering indoors- ambiance is always something that is key to creating a mood and setting the stage for a gathering with friends and family.
And ambiance is one of my favorite things about any gathering- and so, it is always one of the first things I think of when planning. Today I am sharing a few simple and easy ways to add that all important mood factor.

Candles
Candles go without saying really. There is nothing quite like the soft flicker and glow from candles marching down the center of the table. My favorite tip with candles is to vary their heights for layers of ambiance and also bring in more than you think you need for extra dazzle.
Fairy Lights
Fairy lights or candles in lanterns is a perfect way to bring warmth to your backdrop. Place lanterns around the table on the ground or on smaller tables to create a cozy and welcoming feeling.

String light ambiance
If outdoors- string lights overhead is another layer of magic for any setting. You can attach string lights to tree branches, fences or add freestanding poles for them to drape from. If inside- you can add them to beams or other architectural elements if deciding to add them.

Or as an alternative- a chandelier- I have been known to add a chandelier to a tree before- so of course, it is one of those things that I think belongs in any space- inside or outside. If you don’t have a way to add electricity- you can use faux candles in a candle chandelier for a similar look.

Set up twinkling trees for a bit of magic in the background. I love to mix heights and styles for a varied look but of course any type of twinkling tree in the backdrop is going to look beautiful.
Fairy Curtain Lights
Fairy light curtains are another way to create a wall of ambiance. These are long fairy light strands that drop several feet and easily add a whole lot to oomph in just a few minutes.

For this table, I layered a bed of moss and gathered up some bits of nature to scatter. The candles are simple collected brass candlesticks and the arrangement is a mix and mingle of eucalyptus protea and other seasonal blooms in a vintage green pitcher. I kept the place settings simple- and added green linen napkins to keep with our ‘natural green’ theme.

On wine barrels in the background, a couple of lanterns warm the backdrop.
Overhead, a strand of fairy lights zigzags above the table to create a glow.
Candles with dripping wax are especially charming I my opinion and I adore the look of the long drips as the wax rolls down. While most candles today are marketed as no drip- I find they all like to drip but keep in mind safety first of course. If it is breezy and you are outdoors- go for those realistic faux tapers to be fire safe.

All in all a simple and sweet table ready for an autumn gathering and making memories.
