Weekend View
Hiking in Tahoe, a birthday girl, triple digit heat & more.
Hiking in Tahoe
We made the trek up the mountain to south shore in Tahoe last week. We decided to climb the Van Sickle trail up to the waterfall. If you are not familiar with Tahoe- this trail is at state line- so technically you are hiking in both California and Nevada depending on where you are on the trail. It was much cooler in Tahoe than at our house- but in the blazing sun on the trail and being up around 7000ft -the sun and heat was intense.
Birthday Girl
This week we also are celebrating our baby girl turning 24- and she says she is ‘ feeling ancient.’ Which of course, I think is hilarious. Since if she is 24 and she is the baby baby – that kind of makes me the ancient one. haha.
Morning Sunshine
I mentioned recently that I have been starting the morning slowly- savoring the sunrise and focusing on slowing down my morning routine. My daughter is working on a blog post about summer slow living with tips on how to slow your roll and soak up the moments a bit more. That is coming your way in the next week. For more- you can also read The Art of Slow Living post here.
Kevin
It has been HOT HOT HOT here recently- in the triple digits and unrelenting even into evening. We don’t have air conditioning in our house- we usually stay quite cool inside with an old basement and those old thick walls that insulate . But there are always a few times in summer that we question our sanity on why we have not installed air conditioning. This has been one of those times haha. Kevin has the right idea- chilling in the shade.
Wandering
This weeks wandering took me to Amazon to shop the sales and to the usual places I go for inspiration.
Love this post at Thistlewood Farm about getting the look of plaster walls with drywall mud. So easy!
These vegan recipes look SO GOOD. And there are 40 of them- so lots to choose from for whatever you are craving.
Fashion Finds: I ordered this tank top in black last week- and am heading back over to order a couple more. I love the loose fit and the length- it runs big though- so order your regular size or size down if you want something less ‘flowy’.
Coming your Way
Summer Slow Living and ways to savor the season. Christmas in July – more on another way to enjoy all that Christmas magic in July and a simple grocery store flower arrangement with all the tips on what to look for.
Don’t miss the Christmas in July sale that is going strong at Balsam Hill right now too. And use code CAJCOURTNEY50OFF to save an extra $50 off any purchase of $300 or more.
Happy weekend all.

Curious where this is in Tahoe, looks like maybe South shore. We always stAY IN TAHOE CITY. I love how the Lake ALWAYS LOOKS SO DIFFERENT from various VANTAGE POINTS. One of my very favorite places in the world. Enjoy!

Lovely to see Tahoe with some water! Congrats on the hike. It’s a good one! Sweet picture of you and your daughter. Time goes by so quickly when we are busy. Always nice to stop, slow down and enjoy the moment.
