Welcome to the weekend view. This week it was all about birthday fun, lunch at the lake and more.
Birthday Fun
It was my birthday weekend and yesterday, we went over to one of my sons houses for dinner to celebrate. I had a whole lot of fun playing with Juliette and my daughter in law Katt made a stacked cake for dessert. Spending time with our family was such a perfect way to celebrate – I am so grateful that our kids all live close enough to be able to see them often. We just need to get my daughter to move a tad closer one of these days 😉
DIY Table Corner Protection
My son Cullan is expecting his first baby in a couple of months so they aren’t fully baby-proof yet. But in anticipation of Juliette coming over – he fashioned corner protectors for their dining room table last minute to keep her from hitting her head. Of course, Juliette thought they were fun to try and pull off the table.
Lunch at the Lake
Speaking of my daughter- last week we took a trip up to Donner Lake to meet my daughter and her fiancé Harley for lunch. Harley’s dad flew over from Hawaii and surprised him – and so it was the first time we were able to meet in person. It was perfect weather up in the mountains- only in the 80’s and overcast- a much welcome break from the triple digit heat we have been having for weeks.
Rooster Love
We have several roosters in our flock of silkies and they are all incredibly sweet and love to be cuddled. Most people don’t realize that silkie roosters are docile sweet boys. This sweet boy has a little bit of a messy face because of enjoying watermelon- but he is a happy bird when he is sitting with someone.
Autumn vibes
I ordered a bunch of pampas grass last week and when it arrived- it absolutely got me in the mood for all things autumn. I placed the pampas into this urn on the table to allow the grass to open up and fluff out-and I do love how much oomph it adds. Especially with the twinkling tree backdrop. haha. I had to snap a quick iPhone photo as I walked by to share with my daughter in law – not the best photo- but I love the mix and mingle.
Side note- I am pretty impressed with this supplier of the pampas grass- I actually ordered a few more for some upcoming fall stylings. If you love it as well – you can find it below. *affiliate
Calf Strain
Of course, as I turned another year older -either my muscles are getting tired of me pushing them or they are just older. We have been walking and hiking about 5 miles a day for the past couple of weeks. An effort to lose weight and also just get into better shape since I don’t run much anymore. But, I did do a short run one day and it seems I stressed my calf muscle in the process – and next time we did the hill that week, it was a doozy of a calf strain that resulted. I stopped doing our walk for a few days- and it was feeling better but back to not being able to walk much yesterday so you will find me mostly resting and icing it today. If you have any tips to get it to heal quickly before our trip- I will take them all!
Coming your way
A busy couple of weeks coming up- stay tuned for what we are up to (and where.) And on the blog- it is going to be simple and sweet. I will show you where that antique basket landed, share a couple late summer inspirations and some early autumn decor- along with a couple recipes.
Happy Sunday all!

It’s time for fall as far as I’m concerned. We have been expierencing hot and humid weather and it’s miserable as far as I’m concerned. I am ready for some cooler temperatures.
Happy Birthday.

Topical Voltaren! I too have always been an active gal but when age began to slowly move forward I too needed to make some changes. Voltaren is just topical advil used mainly for arthritis but boy it so helps those knees, calves and elbows that seem to take a beating not allowing me to keep truckin’ along. More water and eating my calcium vs taking pills as research is finding that the added calcium supplements are causing damage to other parts of the body such as our heart. Slow stretching…yeah I know..takes time to do that but when I do it makes a world of difference..yoga as well. Stay limber:0)
Love the pampas grass and your sweet silkie!!

ARNICA! Cream or gel, they both work. Suppose you need the big fix? Apply Arnica with a layer of Zheng Gu Shui.

I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and I use a band on the bottom of my heel(wrap around very tightly and stretch the heel and toes out! I do it for 90 seconds besides rolling my foot on a frozen water bottle. I also do the same exercise without the stretch band off and on each day. It has helped tremendously! Maybe some of that will help you. Before I get out of bed each morning I stretch my foot out and that soreness is so much better.
Take care and keep those great post coming.
