Welcome to the Weekend View. This week is all about this and that and projects- starting a few new ones and wrapping a couple up.
Weekend View
Garden Planting
Last week we transplanted some of the bulbs that were overwintered in the greenhouse. Fresh soil in the boxes in the greenhouse garden and a few hours later probably 200 bulbs found a new place to grow.
Of course, a few days later, something has already been in the boxes digging up some of the bulbs to enjoy. The boxes are lined with mesh to keep the gophers out- so not sure if it is a squirrel or rat or something else that is looking for a few nibbles.
House Projects
Would you believe that we just took down the cottage Christmas trees last week? I know. Way behind over here. We have a lot of changes going on in the cottage in the next month and so, boxes are starting to stack up to get ready to be stored. We are planning to redo the flooring in the upper space and also finish up some things in the living space below- like add a wood stove. I will take you along on the process as we update things- but first- those Christmas Tree bags and stacks of ornaments need to move along to the shed.
Sunshine and Long Walks
We have been soaking up the sunshine days recently and spending a lot of time outdoors between the yard projects and getting some miles in. My goal is to log about 5 miles a day- some days it is less and some days more all depending on what other things we have on the agenda. On the weekends, we have dinner with the boys and their families so I try to log those miles early- but a secret? All last week, we have been walking after about 3:30pm. We get home just before it is time to make dinner and relax and I honestly love the afternoon walks more than the morning ones right now. I feel like I have plenty of time to work on things I need to get done during the day- and then fit in some de-stress exercising before winding down for the evening. Anyone else prefer a late afternoon evening walk? Below is a favorite summer spot to walk up in Lake Tahoe- inspiring me on this chilly overcast day.
Project Wrap Up
A creative project I have been working on for months wrapped up last week- which I am very happy about. But I have to be honest- I am a tad on the pooped out side creativity and energy wise and while I could really use a refresh and break- also have a ton of things I want to work on and get done at the same time. I tend to get overly critical of myself-and even when I am running on fumes- instead of recognizing that I need to take a break, I push harder to get more accomplished. Which can be counter productive on many levels. Are you the same? We are going to delve a bit more into self love and acceptance of ‘you’ on Monday with a post for Valentine’s Day. Coming your way
Coming your way next week, that post about self love I just mentioned-along with some spring inspirations and another table centerpiece idea using something in a different way. I am all about changing things up in a simple way to see what works. I will also make some mood boards and share some ideas of what we are working on in the cottage and where I hope to take that space in the next month or so. All diy projects so as always, the best laid plans- but will share the goals at least.
Happy Weekend all.
