This week on the blog- we talked about Foxgloves and answered some of your questions , and 5 Unique Ways to decorate with Outdoor Safe Faux Florals and in the Weekend View today- it is all about French press coffee, garden wandering and gophers.
French Press Coffee
Anyone else love French press coffee as much as I do? I recently ordered a new larger sized press to be able to make a whole pot of coffee and now I am even more obsessed than I was before. While I was shopping I researched quite a few of them to see which ones were the best (or cutest!) – will share a post about them soon.
Fleurs in the cottage
I have been plugging away at finishing a few things in the cottage this week-and while I was out there working in the kitchen- I decided to pull some of the peonies out of the refrigerator and create a little something fun. This was the result. And yes, peonies in the refrigerator because it has been in the mid nineties all week here and the flowers will last just a couple days in that heat otherwise.
Speaking of heat
I am ready for the beach. Toes in the sand and warm sunshine on my face- and maybe a little nap while listening to the waves. It has been awhile since we were at the beach for a few days- but it is definitely on the agenda to go soon. Especially since it seems that trip back to Europe looks like it might be on hold again this summer. This snap is from my book Inspired Gatherings– and was taken at Dillon Beach which is the same place that the movie ‘The Birds’ was filmed back in the day.
Blooming in the greenhouse garden
We planted these cuties from seeds a few weeks ago and they just started blooming this week.
Caddyshack
I mentioned recently that my husband was in a bit of a battle in the garden… with a gopher. Have you seen Caddyshack? There is a lovely little gopher that mocks everyone- and my husband has decided he is literally being mocked by the gopher. It has been enjoying nibbling on all the roots of the veggies and my husband keeps fining the plants laying down in the beds. So, he pulled all the newly planted veggies out of the garden beds- and then removed the dirt and laid down a layer of mesh wire to hopefully keep the gophers from being able to eat the plants. Of course, there are now holes all around the garden beds as the gopher tries to find a way in.
He also has bought some sonic things that you put in the garden beds to keep the gophers away- but so far- the only one that high pitched beeping seems to be bothering is me haha.
Coming your way
Lots of fun coming your way next week-
From summer candlelight dinner party ideas, to the potting shed build details to a new series I hope you will enjoy.
I also got the rest of the summer dresses I ordered in- and will be sharing what I have found that I am keeping and loving in a bit of a different kind of post for me- detailing some of my fashion choices. Which to be honest- right now usually looks like denim shorts, a floral or black shirt and pair of boots. So my dress style might not be too exciting – but I actually really like a couple of them- so stay tuned.
What’s for Dinner
And my middle guy and his girlfriend stopped by this morning on their way to the lake. They dropped off the grand dogs and then went to go do some kayaking- and are coming back for dinner. We were planning on doing a veggie noodle pasta tonight- but they are not too interested. So casual summer dinner food it is.
I am working on a post about ‘backyard picnic style’ and will share a few favorite tips and easy recipes for your next get together- and if you are looking for a fun weekend dinner- take a peek at a favorite Sautéed and Fresh Veggie Pizza recipe– and for a easy to make and easy to enjoy brie for fires out under the stars- this Campfire Brie is always a hit.
Happy Saturday All.

You would have to be a real risk-taker to schedule a european vacation this summer. here in europe We’ve had endless constantly changing border controls, snap curfews, and silly rules that (in spain, e.g.) resulted in people wearing masks to run in the countryside and beach. countries have still not decided what proof they will accept of full vaccination. It’s been a mess, and it continues…

I used to battle a ground hog. I would go out and roar at him like a lion and he would just stand there mocking me! After seeing folks on facebook set up a feeding stand with fruit and veggies for a critter I thought why didn’t I think of that. It just might have saved my plants. As long as he doesn’t bring his whole clan for a meal!

I love the beach picture! Everyone takes a basket of peonies down to the shore, don’t they?
