Bold and beautiful – And carefree to keep looking bold and beautiful all summer long? Sounds perfect right? We live in California and there are summers I can remember when we didn’t even plant new plants in the window boxes because water was so low and restricted. So beautiful blooms that are bold and beautiful and will stay that way without any watering is pretty amazing.
Even if you live in a state that has an abundance of water- maybe you don’t want all the work that goes into maintaining a lot of plants. Maybe you are traveling a bit this summer after staying home so much and are hesitant to bring home too many potted plants that need care- or maybe you just want to decorate the porch or garage once and forget about it. I recently worked on a styling and blog post for the Balsam Hill blog- all about these beautiful outdoor safe florals. And today – I am sharing a bit more about this styling along with 5 tips for enjoying these florals in different ways.
Outdoor Safe Florals
When it comes to outdoor hanging baskets, window boxes and planters-of course fresh garden plants are wonderful. But if you want the color and beauty without any of the work (or watering) these are amazing. And since these are specifically outdoor safe- they won’t fade or breakdown in the sun. First up- let’s talk about the most common way you could use these first. Hanging baskets, wreaths and window boxes- just as they are meant to be used. Today I am sharing this beautiful new collection- Outdoor Spring Morning. So for the usual ways to enjoy these beauties: Hang a pair of baskets around your entry door. Use a wreath or garland to dress a window. And use those potted plants to add a beautiful accent where ever you need it.
Unique Ways to Use Outdoor Safe Florals
1. On a Dutch Door
Have I mentioned that I love dutch doors? I love dutch doors so much that we have one on the house, one on the barn, one on the greenhouse and we the one on the potting shed too. While I have used a wreath for decor on a dutch door previously- I have to say, the new favorite just might be a window box. It adds so much charm.
Tip: Think outside the box with a window box floral. They are perfect for latching onto a dutch door for a charming, storybook look.
2. On Outbuildings
Another simple way to dress your outdoor buildings- use a wreath or florals on the garage or shed.
Tip: Your garage is often the first thing that will greet people when they arrive- create a beautiful welcoming scene.
3. Bucket of Blooms
A simple and easy centerpiece- grab that bucket of blooms and place it on the table for instant beauty. I love this style because it looks like a chunky wood bucket filled with pretty flowers- just like you might create and bring out to enjoy on the table.
Tip: Think outside the box when it comes to centerpiece ideas. A bucket full of blooms is a welcome change from a standard vase and adds a whimsical touch.
4. Window Box Table Centerpiece
Another way to ‘think outside the box’ with a window box? Place the window box display right in the center of the table for a no fuss centerpiece.
Tip: Simply arrange the florals on both sides of the window box by pulling and shaping the flowers and leaves to create a full display all around.
5. Create charming decor
If you are looking for a unique and interesting way to decorate your yard – place a floral window box on the back of a beach bike. This is also a perfect way to welcome guests for a party or gathering this summer.
Tip: A floral window box works perfectly on the back of beach bike- simply attach the wire box to the frame of the bike.
These are all such easy ways to decorate outdoors with beautiful florals that are no water, no maintenance and have them looking beautiful all summer long.

I love this article because it is so creative, and the ideas are really fun. It’s great to think outside of the box, and I like that you mentioned a window box as an option for floral arrangements. It makes me want to go out and get one!

I have found that filling my balcony containers with primarily a wide variety of greenery in different shades of green and different textures really does fool the eye. I have eight greenery pots on my balcony for summer and think they all look very lilfelike even close-up.
