Welcome to the Weekend View. This week, it seems the common theme was ‘moving’. Moving houses, moving in a new workout routine and moving things out of closets.
Moving Houses
I mentioned earlier this week that we were in the middle of helping my oldest and his family move from one house to another. Moving is one of those things that you don’t realize is going to be such a big task until you are doing it. Lifting and moving boxes, furniture and unpacking and organizing. I didn’t do as much of the heavy lifting as the guys did- and other than stacking what I could in my car- I mostly moved things to the end of the truck to be placed inside. My middle guy worked for a moving company for a couple of years before working with my son in his business- and so, pretty much we left it up to him to puzzle piece the truck together. We joked that he looks like he is playing Tetris, stacking exact fits and pieces where they need to be to maximize space.
Both of our boys work in the fitness industry for my oldest sons company- and there were a TON of weights, bars, machines and large bulky fitness things to move. We spent a full day moving most of the house and getting the truck unloaded – and loaded up a second truck run in early evening to pick up all.that. fitness equipment. At that point- they were all over taking things apart and decided to just pick the large pieces up and move them. I wasn’t much help there so I just filmed all the laughing and comedy of errors that resulted with each bulky piece as they tried to get it to fit.
I also spent some time snapping this beautiful sunset view from the backyard.
Zooming around the kitchen
I mostly helped with unpacking boxes as they brought them to the new house. We filled the kitchen cupboards, bathrooms and got their bedrooms & the living room set up- and of course, I played with Juliette as she zoomed around the kitchen in her walker. She is a little wild one. I keep flashing back to when her dad was a baby and how much she is like him.
New Workout
We are back to our 5.5 mile walk most days now that the weather is warmer again- but something I have missed for several years since rolling my ankle and falling – really getting that move on with my daily run. For me, running was not just about burning calories or getting in shape. I have had transient anxiety and panic attacks for years- sometimes they are just out of the blue- and running was one of the only things that really created mental and physical shift that made a huge difference. Before I ran all the time- I enjoyed kickboxing and doing step workouts- and so I am starting up again. Favorites right now are Barre and kickboxing again (no surprise) but am looking forward to getting my step out and getting going there too.
Side note- I know anxiety and panic attacks are some of those things that a lot of people don’t talk about for whatever reason. But if you have an anxiety issue- you know the feeling and let’s be honest- the past couple of years have caused a huge amount anxiety even for folks who don’t have an issue. Whether it is meditating, moving your body more or talking with someone, praying or taking medicine if that is what works for you, etc.- just know that you are not alone and you have got this.
Flowers and Chairs
Because, I am one of those crazy folks who thinks that a chair in the middle of a field with flowers on it is pretty much perfect. This snap is from my book Inspired Gatherings but the chair and flower love is always on repeat here it seems. I am working on a project that involves chairs, flowers, inspired locations and a whole lot of ambiance. So this snap is inspiring me this week. Find more in my book Inspired Gatherings.
Closet Cleaning
What is it about the new year that inspires decluttering everything?
Yesterday I tackled my closet and started on the linen closet. You know how they say that you should toss anything that you haven’t worn in the past year? I think being that we have mostly been home and not traveling for business or fun for going on 3 years now- that rule might have to change.
Because, literally, I have only worn a few pieces on repeat for several years. Favorite sweaters, shirts, jeans, shorts, workout clothes, my winter coat, pair of daily boots, tennis shoes and flip flops- and snuggle robes and pj’s. But other than that? Just a handful of other things on occasion- so everything else would technically have to be tossed or donated according to that rule.
So spoiler alert- I didn’t get rid of everything. Those dresses, blazers, high heels and pretty party outfits? Well, I am keeping them in the closet folks. I am hopeful that we will all be dusting off our suitcases and adventuring for work and fun again soon.
Wandering
Wandering this week has been taking me to lands near and far. From the beautiful California countryside to the mountains filled with snow to dreams of Europe and history filled travels. We are champing at the bit to get back over to Europe and some things we are working on- but for now I am looking back at travels for inspiration. Stay tuned for some inspirations from travels inspiring some decor changes. And if you have wanderlust too- take a peek at some of my favorite places in this post about A little French Village that stole my heart
We are excited to start planning some European adventures with family again soon. Even if we are just planning rather than booking things at this moment- (hopefully soon!) jotting plans down gets your mind excited about the adventures. Where is your dream spot to travel to right now?
Happy Weekend everyone.

Hi, This was so good to read today…we are building a new home in another state and it has been a challenge during these weird times. we are in a state of not knowing what to do with our current house and the furnishings? I am procrastinating and i feel a bit anxious when I look around our house and there is so much stuff! where to begin and the task of getting rid of so much has me feeling overwhelmed. I also injured my wrist and had surgery this past week…I look forward to getting it back to use and it needs to be soon! Ugh! Thank you for your post reminding me that im not alone in feeling a bit anxious.

I hope that your wrist is healed quickly and you find some calm in the anxiety storm soon Kim. Just try to slow down and know that it all will get done and you will be moved into your new home! I think where to begin is always one of those places that can feel overwhelming for sure.
