Underneath the Christmas tree isn’t just for stacks of pretty presents. Though that is always a beautiful look- sometimes you want something a little different.
Under the tree is a place to show your creativity- and there are so many beautiful ideas- whether you decide a tree skirt is your favorite or want something more unique and true to your style.
From buckets of ornaments to chunky knit throws to baskets- today it is all about a few ideas for creating something special and perfect for your unique style underneath the tree.
A Vintage or Vintage Inspired Tree Skirt
Of course, a tree skirt is a number one go -to look for most. And the best thing about those tree skirts now is that there are so.many. options. From velvet, to embroidered, to vintage- you can find your favorite look easily. Love this peppermint skirt & this Christmas Village one for a vintage inspired look.
A Tree Collar
A tree collar is another simple and easy way to quickly decorate that space under the tree. I love that collars are so easy to install- simply wrap around the base of the tree and voila.
Unique Light up houses
Simple and charming and simply charming- I love this wee house village collar underneath the tree.
Such a fun rustic European look- a charming basket is perfect for placing your tree into. You can find specific ‘Tree stand baskets’ or use one of your own with a few tweaks to keep that tree standing tall. More of this look Here
A favorite look for me- a vintage bucket. Whether it is a regular old garden variety or something vintage and unique- I love the look of a beautiful tree in a sweet little bucket.
A chunky blanket
Simple and sweet- simply grab a favorite chunky blanket and wrap it under the tree for a farmhouse touch.
A faux fur rug
Yes indeed- this is a faux fur rug that I wrapped around the base of the tree for a soft landing. I love the charm it adds.
Strand of lights
Because, the more the merrier- right? Use a strand of twinkle lights- from plain to those beautiful detailed lights like pinecones or capiz stars to create ambiance.
A wood Crate
Simple and easy to do- place that tree stand into an old wooden crate for a unique and charming look.
Because, that Napa valley wine country feeling is always a good thing. A whiskey barrel is another easy way to create a rustic base for your tree in a snap.
Glittery Garland and Pinecones
Such a whimsical look- try a glittery champagne garland and pinecones for a unique look under your tree. We are currently knee deep in kitchen & bathroom renovations in the cottage but stay tuned for more of a peek of this gold tree in the cottage living room- and shop the garland here.
Faux fur is always a fun look- simple and sweet and I love using the faux fur skirts all year long in other stylings as well. This one is a chunky size.
A Vintage Zinc Pail
Similar to the bucket I shared earlier- this is a old zinc garden pail. Simple galvanized or zinc buckets are always sweet and charming- and I think they are perfect for incorporating for a more rustic Christmas look as well. This is from my first book French Country Cottage. Incidentally-it is perfect for gifting & on sale for $21 currently- my newest book Inspired Gatherings is just $26 as well.
I have SO MUCH more Christmas to share with you- including more trees for the 12 Trees of Christmas- a wreath workshop and tutorials on decking the halls-so stay tuned and don’t forget to sign up for emails so you don’t miss anything.
Happy Monday all!
