A delicious hearty soup with a side of that view?
Yes, please.
It has been a minute since I took these photos when I was in Europe for a bit of work. But this spot and this soup were not part of the work I was doing while there. This was an unexpected happy photoshoot while we were in Capri, Italy. And since I am dreaming about and plotting our next trip as we speak, and it is a whole lot of winter soup kind of weather right now- it seemed like a perfect time to share this inspiration and recipe here again.

We rented a historic villa that overlooked the sea- and had the dreamiest outdoor veranda area where we enjoyed breakfast and dinner everyday. This spot was one where we weren’t sure which part of the villa we would be staying in- after booking it, there were some issues at the villa and the owner made some changes to the reservation. When we arrived, we were happily in the spot with this lovely patio area. I loved sitting at the end of this patio at a small table and sipping my coffee each morning and one of the days there my husband made his famous harvest lentil soup and sandwiches for dinner and we decided to eat here.
We shopped a local small market in Capri when we arrived- we always cook while we are traveling so renting a place with a kitchen is a must. This trip was in October and while we were staying in Capri, it was sunny and beautiful but also a tad chilly with the wind. So, a hearty soup sounded delicious.
Lentil soup is a favorite in our house- especially when it is chock full of garlic and chunky vegetables. Served with a warm bit of bread – it is a hearty meal that is perfect for those chilly autumn and winter days.

that archway looks exactly like the one in a friend's summer home in Provence surrounded by vineyards. It was sold after the death of the husband.
