It’s a random Friday in winter and sometimes that means thrifting happens. You know, I am always up for stopping by the thrift stores to see what might be waiting for me- but did you know that there are 2 reasons that always fire me up to go?
Shopping the Thrifts
Shopping the thrifts isn’t about finding the best bargains. Or shopping just on the sale days for lowest prices.

For Fun
Sometimes I go thrifting just because it is fun. The thrill of what might be waiting for you to discover just inside the doors is always exciting. But that doesn’t mean you find something- I walked out of 2 of the stops empty handed recently. See, I am trying to be a bit better on bringing all the things talking home with me. lol. Though I will admit I wasn’t necessarily there to find something specific- I needed to break up the day and get out of the house for a bit of a break in busy work.

Inspiration
I also go thrifting just for inspiration sometimes. Maybe I am feeling uninspired and have a work photoshoot to do. Sometimes it’s something for a table. A styling for a print project. Or even just a certain something for a place for plopping flowers for a photo that makes me happy. You just never know what you will find at the thrift store- and even if it isn’t something that you bring home, it might inspire you.

Anyone else remember these plates? My grandmother used to have these and it brought back memories. I had to snap a photo of this stack of them in the thrift store when I saw them.
3 Quick Tips for Shopping the Thrifts
So no matter what the reason is that you are feeling drawn to stop by the thrift stores on a random day- the first quick tip is to just go when the inspiration hits you. Number one it is fun- number two it gets you out and about even just one stop and number three, you just might find something that makes you happy.
Shop the Sale Days
Of course, if you are an avid shopper- stopping by on the sale days is always a good idea if you are looking for a bargain-so that is tip number 2.

If you have favorite stops you probably already know the sale days for each thrift. If not, just ask. Usually, there is a day a week that is senior or vet or law enforcement/firefighter appreciation day- so stop in on those days. Or at the beginning or end of the month- usually there is a 1/2 price sale and you can save a ton. Another tip is to stop in ahead of the sale to scout it out and see if there is anything that catches your eye that you would like to stop back by for.
Stop by Often

Even if you don’t find anything when you stop, you just might find something fabulous right when it is put out on the floor. I have scored some pretty amazing treasures just by popping in for a look and finding something that just got put out for sale.

I hope that helps inspire you to do a bit of thrifting just for fun or to score something amazing this weekend- happy Friday friends.
