Spring flowers are some of my favorites- though I don’t think I have met a flower I didn’t like.
In the middle of all that is going on – today it is about creating beauty
at home.
If you are like me – you are probably feeling more than a bit overwhelmed with the news and the uncertainty and fear out in the world right now.
And so my go to when feeling that way- is to share beauty. Sprinkle joy and hopefully bring smiles or a bit of sunshine to your day.
This is just a post about a simple bucket of beautiful blooms and a table that they inspired- and a few tips for creating a special ambiance while at home- without going out or getting special supplies.
While we are all staying home and hopefully staying healthy and safe- we can set a pretty table for our families and enjoy meals together.
And it is easy to make an everyday occasion feel like a special one with just a few things.
Candles
Bring out the candles you have on hand for ambiance.
Tapers, small glass votives -they all will work beautifully and create ambiance that make your dinner table feel a bit more special.
Flowers
Use potted flowers or cut flowers in buckets or small containers for a centerpiece.
While you may not have fresh peonies in the house – you can use herbs from a window sill garden, potted spring flowers, faux floral arrangements or even flowering trees or greens clipped from your yard. There are no rules- use what you have and what inspires you.
Grandmothers Best
Bring out those special occasion elements like gilded wine glasses, fine china and silver flatware
to create a table that feels like it is special occasion-
rather than just feeling like you are not able to get out.
Take it outside
Set the table outdoors weather permitting
to make it feel like a celebration
and to break up the monotony of staying indoors.
Move it around
You can also think outside the box for where to set a table.
Maybe do a bit of a switch and put the dining table in front of the living room fireplace for something different- or set a table inside a greenhouse or shed that isn’t being used for a special treat.
I am working on something fun that is perfect for doing while we are all staying home – I hope to share with you soon. And I know these are just a few simple pretty photos of flowers- and in todays world it might seem a bit tone deaf to be talking about projects and flowers and things like setting a table under a tree. But we are all in this together folks- and while I can’t physically help each of you with things you might need- I think one thing that I am able to do is to share a bit of beauty here. I hope that it helps inspire you, makes you smile, to create something pretty in your own home and enjoy more simple home celebrations with your family- or even simply gives you a couple moments to focus on beauty instead of reading the headlines in the midst of everything going on.
Stay healthy and safe everyone.

Thank you for this post!! I can't take anymore negative news and people posting the most awful things of what is going on in other countries and how we will have it even worse. My Mom is 92 and refuses to take this seriously. My daughter is still at her college but getting ready to clean out her dorm and head home when they give the word. I need flowers, candles, and beaches.

Lovely gift from you today… I just brought a St. Patrick's Day dinner meal that I made last night, a little loaf of banana bread, some green mints, and a little bouquet of pussy willows tied with a green ribbon and delivered it with a card to my elderly neighbor this afternoon. She loved it … I did not stay … simply said "hello" and let her know that we were thinking of her ….
