Sometimes a simple old bucket full of blooming sunshine is just what you need for a beautiful gathering full of seasonal magic. This table setting from my new book ‘French Country Cottage Seasons’ was inspired by these beautiful blooms. 

Mix & Mingle 

It started with an old green bucket my dad gave me, an armful of dahlias and roses and an idea for a gathering out under the oak tree. 

My dad brought this bucket and another one with him when he came to visit several years back. They were at a yard sale and he thought I could probably do something with them. This green one is heavy metal and is perfect for holding a big bunch of blooms. For late summer or early autumn, oranges and yellows are perfection, especially when outdoors. 

Layers of sunshine

From citrus on the table mingling with pinecones and nuts for a seasonal touch, to a sage green check tablecloth with vintage floral plates and glassware. The table is a mingle of all kinds of seasonal pretty. And the pop of the flowers under the string light magic just makes it even more lovely. 

If you are looking to create a table full of seasonal bounty, here are a few tips: 

Go bold when it comes to flowers. These beautiful dahlias and roses were saturated in color and tone, and it absolutely made the table even more beautiful. I don’t usually use such vibrant oranges, but they were talking to me for this. 

Bring in seasonal bounty for the centerpiece. Grapefruit, oranges and a mingle of dried orange slices, pinecones and nuts created a simple and seasonally charming centerpiece. You could also clip branches or scatter leaves to achieve a similar look. 

Bring on the Magic ✨ From string lights overhead to candles on the table to lanterns in the background, that warm glow is pure magic in early evenings and creates just the right amount of ambiance. 

Layers of lovely patterns The sage green buffalo check tablecloth layered with vintage floral plates and amber glassware is a lovely mingle of patterns. Though they are all different types of patterns, they work well together. 

Echo the pretty in the background Add a few blooms in the background to echo the beauty and pull the setting together.
