Holiday tables are some of my absolute favorites. They are full of so much ambiance and magic- from candles to baubles to pretty little twinkle lights in the garland.
Today I am sharing a couple of inspired ideas for setting a holiday table to remember. I always say that the best part about hosting a gathering and setting a pretty table is creating that magic and ambiance that will stay with your guests long after the candles have burned down and the food has been enjoyed. It is about setting the stage for making wonderful memories.
And side note there- I noticed that both of my books are on SUPER sale at Amazon right now. My first book French Country Cottage is $21and my newest book all about creating inspired settings – Inspired Gatherings is $25 They are perfect for gifting too. 🙂 (affiliate links)
Today I am sharing a couple tips for entertaining this holiday season- that are focused on being outdoors and being safe- but of course, if it is just you and yours -you can set up anywhere you would like.
Set the Stage
Set the stage for a beautiful elegant dinner by choosing a beautiful backdrop. For this table- it was that fresh snow that covered the ground and trees that made me want to stop and set up a table.
While sitting outside and dining in the snow might not sound like a warm and cozy idea- but if you set up a fire pit nearby and bring out the cozy with some faux fur throws- you can create a beautiful setting.
Use a Garland for a centerpiece
Keep it simple and use a section of garland for your centerpiece. This works especially well for those longer tables. Simply place a few candles and flowers as you would like and enjoy.
Glass Garland Centerpiece
Or for a different look-a simple and elegant centerpiece for this was a bit of glass garland with some fresh greens and a simple battery operated strand of fairy lights.
Layer on the deliciousness
Whether you are creating a breakfast board with fill you goodness like warm oatmeal and stacks of pancakes- or an afternoon nibble board- layer on the treats.
This large breakfast spread is from my book Inspired Gatherings– but for todays social distance celebrations- a tip is to create individual boards for each guest to enjoy. Whether that is breakfast, cheese and fruit nibbles or even bread with jam -use breadboards or slabs for each platter and create mini versions just like a larger one.
Mixed Metals on Repeat
A simple and easy way to add an abundance of elegance is to bring out those metals. For this setting- I picked up these mini copper pots for each place setting for a creating an individual melted brie dip. You could also serve a soup or salad in each of them if you wanted to.
What I love most about them is that they add such a delicious golden tone to the table. Don’t be afraid to mix copper, gold & silver for an elegant look.
Add those twinkle lights – or even a twinkling tree in the background
Trees in windows in the distance or even trees twinkling away right near the table are perfect for creating that ambiance of Christmas in the house- while being outdoors.
I hope this inspires you to think outside the box (aka outside) this holiday season and gives you some ideas for celebrating.
Happy Sunday all- see you tomorrow.
