Winter white floral arrangements are beautiful and perfect for brightening up your home this winter. This arrangement is simple and sweet – and so easy to put together. And a little secret? Everything I used is from the grocery store.
Winter White Floral Arrangement
With favorites like fluffy hydrangeas, stock & white roses- this floral arrangement smells as wonderful as it looks.
It all started with shopping the local grocery store to see what was in stock. Here is what my husband found and brought home. And yes- he oftentimes runs to the market for me to grab what I need. He knows me well!
- Roses
- Garden Roses
- Baby’s Breath
- Lisianthus
- Waxflower
- Tulips
- Mixed bouquet- Hydrangeas, Queen Anne’s lace, Stock, mixed greens
- Eucalyptus – baby and silver dollar
I realize that not all grocery stores will carry the same flowers or the same varieties of colors, greens, etc. So the list above is really just to give you an idea of what I used. I didn’t use all of them together in one bouquet- as you can see this is a small arrangement for the bedroom. I only used a few roses, a couple springs of spray roses, a handful of baby’s breath & 1 bunch of tulips and the mixed bouquet and greens. I have two large buckets of flowers left to use in other arrangements around the house- which is always a good thing.
Something with Patina
This gold pitcher was the starting point for the color mingle- I wanted something with a bit of patina and elegance for the white flowers.
Start with the greens and large flowers
I usually start my arrangements by creating a ‘base’ for the flowers. This is easily done with greens and with larger flowers- like the hydrangeas. Since there is no right or wrong way to mix and mingle flowers in my opinion- go with whatever you find and work with those.
Then start tucking in longer stems- in this case, they were the lisianthus and the stock.
Tip: Tall stately flowers that ‘stand’ are going to be more like the roses and stock- which tend to hold their heads high on strong branches that don’t bend and move as much. Use those to create some structure in the arrangement
Tip: Bring in some whimsy. Perfect flowers for adding a bit of whimsy in this case are the tulips. They have long and less rigid stems and tend to grow reaching up, then dropping a bit and then picking their heads up- which creates a beautiful, organic movement in the arrangement.
And continue placing flowers as your eye finds attractive. A good rule of thumb is to have one area of the arrangement ‘reach’ a little further than others. I also like the flowers to be a bit on the ‘wonky’ side rather than too perfectly placed.
If you keep those things in mind when choosing flowers- you can create a truly unique arrangement that speaks to what you prefer the most.
Side note- yes my curtains are puddling. I love the look of a little billow at the bottom like my favorite boot cut jeans or bell bottoms rather than ‘flood pants’ or ankle pants. So I order in extra long lengths and adjust according to the look I love. ( Yes, I also compare home decor to outfits on occasion. haha. ) Anyway, the curtains are actually being cleaned this week -we are in process of refreshing the paint and decor in this room – excited to share more soon.

Stay tuned for our next post in our slow living series- that post moved days this week for a couple of deadlines I need to work on but it is coming your way on Wednesday and it is all about creating a charming reading nook in your home.
