25 twinkling Christmas trees…. yes indeed. We included them and then some.
Christmas Trees in Book
But when we started planning the book and what would be included- originally, it was just going to be a chapter with 12 Trees of Christmas – like the 12 Days of Christmas. But that just didn’t feel like it included enough to me so as I worked on decorating trees and and ideas for different looks- we decided to add a few more. And a few more. And then we wanted to make sure to include some of the always favorites I have shared over the years as well and so, it became the 25 Trees of Christmas.
25 Trees
I definitely have a few favorites included in the 25. But did you know that there are actually more than 25 trees included in the book? We added trees all through the pages and not just in the 25 Trees chapter. And we included a simple step by step showing how I go about the method to my madness with layers of decor on a tree as well.
The cover tree is decorated with so many different elements- vintage, new, ribbons, garlands and more. But some of the trees are simple in style. I wanted to try to include something that inspired everyone – and not everyone wants a tree covered in everything and prefer something more sparse.
Inspiration for the trees
Different Colors- Decorating trees with different color bases was a big one. I wanted to include a lot of different color ideas for the trees instead of just the traditional Christmas tree decor colors. I stepped outside of my favorite look box a couple of times and included some examples that are not my usual go to looks.
Vintage– I am always inspired by vintage ornaments, sprinkles of magic with a little bit of tinsel (and a lot of tinsel in a couple of cases) and even things like vintage patterns & more. So overall vintage elements are on repeat.
Fresh Flowers– in the settings but also on the tree. There are a couple of trees with fresh flowers- one of them was literally a last minute tree in Paris that I put together using fresh flowers from another photo in the apartment. I will share a Behind the Scenes post about the Christmas stylings in Paris and a closer look soon- it was a bit of an adventure for sure!
Ribbons Galore– As you know, I am quite obsessed with velvet and satin ribbons on trees- included in overall decor or simply by themselves.
Something Whimsical– because, why not? I love a setting with a bit of whimsy or something unexpected or unique.
Twinkling Trees All Year Long
Working ahead on seasonal photos is not a new thing over here- and I actually love working on Christmas all year long for various projects. There were some breaks in setting up trees and other things for the book and there were some larger projects like our photo shoot in Paris or a snow covered cabin that required waiting for a blanket of fresh snow.
As you can imagine though, working on a book can be allconsuming and I didn’t share as much as far as everyday home posts and projects here last year. We have a lot of irons in the fire over here currently but I am already working on autumn and holiday stylings and will be sharing a whole lot of seasonal inspirations starting next week (along with the Christmas book launch next week) And, of course, I am already thinking about and planning just what Christmas trees will look like this year – and you can also bet that I will be sharing a closer look at many of the trees that are in the book. Because, unlike a blog post where I can include 10 photos of one styling easily- space is limited when creating a book which means a lot of the detail photos are not able to be included. So stay tuned for a closer look coming this season!
Favorite Tree of the 25 Trees
Do I have a favorite tree in the 25 Trees? Yes I definitely have a few favorites! One of them though is unusual for me- and it involves these ornaments. I was so much in love with how this tree turned out that I left it up for a couple of months (in summer!) before packing it away.
Can you imagine me doing a tree with red mushrooms and that was one of my favorites? It really did turn out beautiful!
1 Week Until Book Birthday
Can you believe it is just 1 more week until the book is here? I got a comment on instagram last night that someone had already gotten their copy – which I have no idea how but maybe your pre-orders will ship sooner than expected! If you haven’t pre-ordered yet- you can grab your copy by clicking the photo below.
And you can see more about the Behind the Scenes of the Cover of the Book in this post here.
Happy Tuesday everyone.
