Guess what we are doing again… a bathroom update. And you know when it comes to a bathroom, a small project that turns into a big project. Isn’t that just how it always is? We were making a simple update to the vanity. Which turned into a bigger project when we had an issue with the vanity counter. We are now looking at several options and of course, each one requires more work to make it come together. Ahh such is old house life- and while some of the projects aren’t fun- I do enjoy the process of renovating and reimagining a space. Today though, we are talking about 7 inexpensive bathroom refresh ideas to update your bathroom easily. No breaking out tiles or heavy lifting required.
7 Inexpensive Bathroom Refresh Ideas

Inexpensive Bathroom Refresh Ideas
Fresh linens is such a great quick and easy and inexpensive bathroom refresh idea. I don’t know if you have the problem with keeping white towels feeling crisp and fresh but the bleach and oxyclean just doesn’t do it for me after awhile and I long for those fluffy soft new towels. So when that happens, the older towels move to the project pile for using for projects, clean up and what not. Kind of like the kitchen sponge that moves to the ‘other’ cleaning spot after a bit. And this big vintage basket of rolled up towels get filled with new towels and it instantly feels fresh.

Shelf Organization
The antique French armoire in the bathroom holds all the things. And those baskets are filled with makeup, everyday things and more- and between you and me? They can get a little overfilled at times. and so going through and tossing anything that is old, expired or otherwise not being used instantly cleans them up. I also like to look at the face scrubs, oils and hair products that are set aside by the baskets and sort those as well. It is amazing to me how quickly just cleaning up & organizing the shelves makes the bathroom feel like it got a deep clean and a refreshed look.

Add ‘room’ touches like a rug
When is the last time you changed the mats in the bathroom to something different? I ditched those small mats awhile back and brought in some of those washable rugs instead. Instant game changer. It makes the bathroom feel like a ‘room’ with a rug on the floor. I love that they go right into the washer and come out looking fresh in a snap. I also use an antique linen runner for the spot in front of the sinks. It cleans up easy enough and I like the more natural feeling it brings.
Artwork, Mirrors or Wall Decor for the Bathroom
A sweet little mirror above the tub, charming artwork by the vanity or other wall decor is an easy way to bring a new look and fresh feeling. It doesn’t have to be big or make a big statement- sometimes something small is all you need to add a bit of oomph.

New Hardware
The other day the vintage hook I use for my towel snapped. And so, while I have a peg hook I can use currently, I am on the treasure hunt for a new vintage hook to use. Something like towel hooks, toilet paper holders and the like are easy to update when you want a new look. Maybe you have a standing toilet paper holder and want to change to a wall one or vice-versa. Or a single hook for your robe and you decide to go with something more detailed and useful or something vintage that serves a different purpose. Changing this kind of hardware in the bathroom is an easy way to update.
Vanity Changes
This is where we are. Vanity changes. We have long been thinking about making some changes and decided to tackle them. While changing the vanity can be a bit time consuming and a big project if tackling a custom vanity- you can go with a more simple project and update by choosing a premade vanity. And some of those premade ones can look quite custom and be beautiful too.
A tip is to look for a vanity with a more unusual shape- meaning not the usual back in the day box for a sink. And choose to upgrade to a counter top material that gives you durability and also the look you love rather than the counter that might come with the vanity and be a bit more basic. All in- if you are wanting to update your vanity for a custom look- this is an easier and less expensive way to do refresh the vanity area than having a carpenter build something totally custom.
Fresh Soaps and Oils Area
A shelf with a little display of fresh soaps, oils and bits for beauty is such a simple and easy way to organize and keep all your favorite products displayed in a pretty way. In my bathroom, I use an old antique plateau mirror and place my castor oil blend for my face, jojoba for skin and a stack of pretty little bars of soap and bath salts there too. And in our other bathroom, it is all about baskets and stacks of bar soaps with a jar full of scrubby sponges. It isn’t as much an ‘update’ I suppose, but organizing something like a little daily face oil area makeup spot or is a lovely way to make your bathroom feel updated and refreshed.

Every thing looks so pretty.Lately I have become semi bored with each room in my house. I thought I might change the top of the bed and go from there. We will see maybe I should change out the bathroom first. LOL
