I am all about pretty twinkling trees in the house at Christmas time. And every year, deciding how to decorate each tree is part of the fun. I definitely like to play with different looks- from vintage baubles to mercury glass to flowers and more. While working on my book French Country Cottage Christmas- I decorated 25 trees (and then some) to give you a whole lot of ideas for different looks. This blushing beauty Christmas tree in the cottage was one of them. Today I am sharing a closer look at some of the details and how to get the look.

Blushing Beauty Christmas Tree
One of the things I love about a softer side color palette like this blushing beauty Christmas tree is that the tree has such a quiet beauty. It almost feels serene as it glows in the room. When there isn’t a pop of color or a bold palette for the tree, Christmas truly blends in with the rest of the look in the room.
For this tree, I wanted sugar covered treats, blush ribbons and a mingle of different era ornaments for a little bit of glam. The keys are always to add something fun and something unique- and this blushing beauty Christmas tree has both.

Frosted Fraser Fir
This is the Frosted Fraser Fir from Balsam Hill and it is a delight. Lots of delicate frosted branches and tips create a lovely snowy backdrop for your ornaments. I tend to not overly decorate the frosted trees because they have such a beautiful look by themselves but this one got a few favorite things.
Blushing Beauty Christmas Tree Sugared Fruit, Ribbons and More

I had some sugared fruit picks that were collected over the years from the thrifts and wanted to incorporate them into this tree. I used them sparingly and only used the ones that had a softer color so that they mingled nicely without standing out against all the snowy white. Blush satin ribbons – because I am pretty much obsessed with ribbons on trees and they just went perfectly. And of course, various ornaments created a charming look.
TIP: New & Old ornaments mingle perfectly on a Christmas tree- the key is to in the color and finish when decorating a tree like this one. Unfinished wood snowflakes, vintage and new mercury glass baubles, glittery finials and drops- use what you love and keep the tone and palette similar for a softer side look.
Underneath the Christmas Tree
This is where the something fun and something unique comes in. The tree skirt is actually a chunky wool blanket that brought the perfect complimentary blush color to the tree. And the something unique- vintage newspaper wrapped gifts. This newspaper was wrapping 2 boxes of vintage stemware that we bought at a tag sale. I was careful when unwrapping and saved as much as I could of the 1960’s paper and used it to wrap presents. While they are not all perfectly smooth and pretty wrapped presents- I love the patina and look the vintage paper brings.

TIP: Think outside the box. A perfect tree skirt is what you make of it- a blanket, quilt, tablecloth, remnant fabric that you love- anything goes. There is no right or wrong. And same when it comes to wrapping presents for a pretty look under the tree.
Pampas Grass Wreath
Guess what. I broke the rules again. Are you really surprised? Haha. I always say, I don’t follow the rules in design and to be honest, I don’t even know what they are. So, I go with what I like and I used a non Christmas style accent for this scene. Blushing beauty Christmas trees mingle perfectly with non traditional foliage like pampas grass.

TIP: Think outside the traditional box- go with a non traditional foliage for your wreath and garland. It doesn’t have to be Christmas greens or eucalyptus. This pampas grass wreath echoes the softer side of the overall look and so, it was the one that went on the mantel.
