Oh how much fun Christmas in July is! Though it is hot, hot, hot outside- gathering with twinkling trees feels festive and brings a whole lot of fun to those hot summer nights. We love to celebrate Christmas in July mainly because it is so much easier to get the whole family together during the summer than during the busy holiday season. So we plan a fun get together during summer- and a bonus is enjoying that holiday magic. Whether you are exchanging gifts or just getting together and enjoying making some memories – Christmas in July is always fun. Today, I am sharing the setting I put together this year along with some tips for making your summer feel festive.

Christmas in July

Christmas in July Must Haves: Ambiance on repeat. Twinkle lights. Twinkling trees. Candles. Lanterns. Etc.

One of my favorite things about the Christmas season is all that magic it brings. The christmas trees lighting up the rooms, the twinkle lights on the mantel, the feeling that someone reached out with a magic fairy wand and said bibbidy bobbidy boo and everything started glowing in the house. So why not bring that same magic to your summer gatherings?

The Christmas in July Table
Above the table ambiance- add string lights and a layer of garland for a unique and charming look.

Why not bring an extra bit of oomph to your table area with those string lights overhead- with foliage attached to them? The foliage just makes the setting feel more cozy – this is simply a garland zip tied to the string lights. Easy to add and easy to remove when you are ready.

On the Christmas in July table – it is all about simple and sweet – a vintage lace tablecloth, summery floral plates, mismatched vintage flatware and goblets and vintage lace placemats turned into napkins and tied with a ribbon as a finishing touch.

I like to mix it up on the table and so, it is all about that mix and mingle. I am not one to have to have the exact same on repeat at each place setting- it keeps the table more interesting and I like the collected charm and feeling. Instead of fresh flowers, I added some pots of faux florals for a bit of warmth- and the florals were on repeat in the background with the lanterns and also used as decorations on the tree.
Christmas Tree Magic
Start with a twinkling tree & bring in some touches of summer with fresh or faux flowers and a whole lot of twinkle magic.
This tree was so simple to put together- and it has a couple of secrets.

The Tree Foliage
I love foliage and florals on a tree- and why not mingle both for Christmas in July which brings florals and Christmas? Start with the garlands and simply tuck them into the tree branches. A tip is to make sure that they are tucked enough in that they somewhat ‘fill’ in the areas between the branches and then fluff, fluff, fluff to get the leaves and flowers to ‘branch’ out and cover the tree. This tree has 3 garlands- but you can you use more if you need to or want a fuller floral look. One of the things I love about this garland is the eucalyptus base that looks so realistic.

Add in some magic
I placed a dozen fairy light filled ornaments in the tree for an extra oomph of magic. It kind of reminds of fireflies too- so a perfect Christmas in July summery touch. But a confession here is that these are not ornaments. They are actually solar powered walkway lights. I simply pulled off their stakes and set them aside and then tucked the lights into the tree. They lit up instantly and looked so perfect.

A Finishing Touch
I admit, I have a thing for ribbons on a Christmas tree. They are one of my favorite ways to decorate a tree and they always look nostalgic and charming in my opinion so of course they belong there for Christmas in July too. I started to cut ribbon to tie on the napkins for the table and left enough to add some simple bows to the tree as well.
