Warm Summer days just invite warm evenings filled with
laughing and lingering around the table outdoors
It’s no secret that one of my favorite things to do in the Summer
is to entertain outdoors and enjoy those warm nights
relaxing under the stars.
For me- something that is key with entertaining
is a simple elegance
For this Summer inspired table setting
I decided to set up on the table on the pea gravel patio in the back yard
Our backyard has somewhat of a gentle slope
and is a mix of meadow, orchard and mountain forest
There is a line of towering trees that are one of my favorite things about this area
They create a soft visual divide from the small apple orchard area and the main part of the yard
and I just love the formal semi ‘clipped hedge’ but informal look they lend
On the pea gravel patio sits an old weathered farm table
complete with an uneven top and chipping paint
Even so, it brings a lot of charm, especially when surrounded by soft gray chairs
and covered with vintage bottles and bouquets of ranunculus
marching down it’s center
Stacks of simple white plates and wine glasses gathered together
are waiting to be filled and enjoyed.
Do you eat artichokes? I know, it might be more a California thing but I love artichokes
For entertaining and for enjoying anytime.
They are so simple to prepare and serve.
I kind of think of Artichokes like avocados and fresh garlic
both of which, honestly, I could literally eat every day
Simple but charming- this little pea gravel patio will be getting a lot of use
for entertaining and enjoying everyday casual elegance
this Summer for sure
