This week, I will be enjoying a whole lot of fresh flowers in the house as we are getting ready for my oldest son’s wedding- he and his bride are getting married in just a few days and we are all so excited.
This is a DIY of these beautiful wedding flowers – though I have done a couple of weddings before, it is always a mix of excitement and anxiety- that the hydrangeas will deflate for example or the roses won’t open up fully in time. The theme of the wedding is white flowers on repeat. Hydrangeas, stock, baby’s breath, garden roses and lilies for the bride’s bouquet. I placed a custom order for all the flowers and now have about a dozen buckets filled with flowers in the living room. Today is just a quick peek at the flowers and what we are doing- stay tuned for the finished arrangements.
Tabletop flowers
We are starting with the tabletop flowers- 9 chunky arrangements in all for the 3 tables. A tip is to calculate your ‘bloom count’ before placing an order. I put together a sample arrangement so that I have an idea of how many blooms for each vase are needed. Then the ‘bloom count’ is what you go off of when planning your order.
Wine Barrel Flowers
Up next are the wine barrel flowers- big chunky arrangements that will fill the wine barrels tops and look absolutely gorgeous and full to welcome the bride and guests. We have a whole lot of hydrangeas and roses going in those for a big splash of white flowery fabulousness and a lot of eucalyptus which was the bride’s request for the lovely scent.
Aisle French Flower buckets
These are big ones folks- and they will be filled to the brim with blooms and greens. We have 6 big antique zinc flower buckets that we will be using that will take the majority of these greens to fill up.
The bouquet
And we will be making a beautiful bridal bouquet of lilies & dainty roses. Katt requested a lot of white lily blooms included in her wedding flowers and it is not one I usually work with so I am pretty excited to play with them.
Arch Display
We are also doing the flowers for an arch that the wedding venue is providing. I will be customizing some premade garlands to include the fresh foliage and flowers. Would you like a diy tutorial on that?
Our grand babies will be dressed up as well so I thought I might also make a couple little boutonniere’s for the boys and Ryan of course. And maybe a little wrist flower corsage for Juliette.
All in all a busy couple of days over here playing with flowers and getting ready. I will share photos of everything when wrapped up and some snaps of the wedding.

If people don’t know, you can order vulk flowers from Costco. They are lovely & come to you in great shape. These flowers are very well priced for the diy people.
Good luck with the arrangements!
