A little merry and bright has been appearing in the house bit by bit. And today we are in the living room for a look at our French country Christmas living room tree.
French Country Christmas
It is my favorite look after all- elegant and warm, full of lovely shades of mercury glass, barely blushing blush and whites. And I do love to add a bit of drama too-though for this tree- it is a bit of drama in a different way- with rhinestone garlands.
Silverado Slim
This is the Balsam Hill Silverado Slim Ultra-bright – which is one of my go- to favorites for this room. Our living room is large and with the tall ceilings- a twinkly extra bright tree fills the whole room with warmth and Christmas magic ambiance.
I pretty much always put the tree in this corner in front of the mirrors. We don’t use these French doors all the time- and the mirrors just add that extra oomph.
Satin & Velvet Bows
I used frayed edge satin ribbons along with velvet ribbons for a simple layered bow on the tree. I have a thing for ribbons on trees- so you definitely see them on repeat over here.
Rhinestone Garlands
I also added these beautiful rhinestone garlands. Technically they are not garlands- they are for making jewelry or embellishing things like clothing, etc. But when I saw them- I thought of garland on the tree instantly. I love that they have such a beautiful fringe that drapes and adds so much elegance. And that they come in 2 – 3′ lengths also-which is perfect for tucking on the tree rather than wrapping. This is not the only tree I used rhinestones on this year- stay tuned for the other rhinestone strands I bought to decorate the trees.
Ornaments
The ornaments are a mix and mingle of vintage and new. I brought home some pretty little chalk ware angel ornaments along with French country mercury glass ornaments, beaded snowflakes and other elegant beaded ornaments.
Mantel
On the mantel- fresh noble fir garland along with those elegant French country mercury glass hurricanes -which are perfect for adding a beautiful candle glow. And those oversized chunky knit stockings are perfect for our large fireplace too.

Hi Courtney! so beautiful! I duplicated your blue velvet ribbons FROM last year on mY Silverado Slim. But, I really love the warmth of your ribbon combination this year. I’ll give that a try. I also ordered Balsam Hills candles from your bedroom tree. Thank you for your inspirations! Very European and close to heart with my heritage. ❤️
