Over the weekend,
One of the things I love about most November and December
is that they bring the holiday season
and along with it- all that extra sprinkling of magic that seems to be everywhere.

They also bring holiday parties and entertaining fun and out of town guests
along with them. Once the page on the calendar turns to November,
it seems everything gets busier and that holiday bustling begins and getting the house
ready for out of town and unexpected guests is definitely added to the to do list.
Have you noticed when you have someone coming to visit-
that visit inspires much more than just fluffing the pillows on the guest bed?
It is like the whole house gets a makeover and freshening with an extra fresh clean
to make it sparkle just a bit more.
The crystals on the chandelier are polished, the front door might get a new coat of paint and slipcovers on the sofas get a run through the washer
and a spritz of Unstopables Lush linen spray for a burst of freshness
that fills the room the minute guests walk in.
Seriously, on a side note- have you tried linen spray?
I kind of think linen sprays are pretty close to perfect for everyday freshening
and is one of my favorites to have on hand to use
for curtains, for pillows, you name it.
Of course, the with guests coming-
the guest bedroom that you may have forgotten about most of the year
gets a bit of attention and a few extra touches as well.

I love that feeling of pampering in a guest bedroom.
Things like freshly washed linens and a bouquet of fresh flowers
and maybe something for guests to indulge in.
Here are a few of my favorites:
#1. On the bed
Bedding is one of those things that I am a little crazy about.
I like thick comforters, soft sheets and a pretty throw for an added layer
of warmth at the foot of the bed.
But that isn’t all.
Often times, even with those warm blankets- I might be grabbing for another so
I also like to leave a stack of a couple more blankets on a chair just in case it gets cold.
Another tip? Add a burst of freshness to the wash with Unstopables in-wash scent booster.
I love freshly washed bed linens & how they feel but even more
freshly washed linens with just a touch of scent.

Climbing into bed and feeling like you are nestling into a luxurious field of lavender flowers
to lull you to sleep? I’m there.

#2. On the nightstand
The all important what to put on the nightstand…
A clock? Books? Magazines?
Well, in the guest bedroom – for me, it is all about pretty.
So a bouquet of fresh flowers is a must.
Choose what is in season at the market – and just a small bunch of flowers will do.
I love stock mixed with spray roses for a soft and beautiful bouquet
and a few clippings of larkspur in a separate bottle adds a touch of height.
You can also include that stack of books or magazines to thumb through-
a notebook & pen for jotting down any thoughts and a sweet smelling Unstopables candle
that smells as good as it looks.
#3 A bed tray
Coffee in bed? Yes, please.
Coffee in bed while guests wake up or just spend a lazy morning sleeping in after a long day of travel
is a fun way to dote on them. You don’t have to have some fancy serving tray- use what you have.
One of my favorite breakfast trays-is not really a tray-
it is an old fruit crate turned upside down. It is perfect for serving and holding breakfast, a laptop
or craft projects while you work from bed.

#4. A gift basket or guest treat
One more easy idea for the guest bedroom,
place a pretty basket filled with travel essentials on a side chair.
So many times, guests might have to make a trip to the store to grab
something they forgot- like a toothbrush or comb or lotion for dry skin.
It is super easy to pick up a few extra toiletry items to have on hand and save them the trip.
Some of my favorites
aside from extra every day needs like the toothbrush and comb-
a packet of bath salts, a few chocolates to enjoy, a warm robe to wrap up in after showering
and cozy slippers.
Just a few favorite and easy ways to get that often time
forgotten about all year long
guest room and your home ready for holidays.
What about you- what are your favorite ways to
dote on guests when they come to visit?
So much coming your way this week- (okay this month!)
and tomorrow, I will be sharing a simple Thanksgiving table setting idea.
See you soon!

I always officially welcome Fall Oct 1 and officially welcome the Christmas season the day after Thanksgiving. Now I have an abundance of pilgrims, cornucopias and fall foliage to enjoy for a while. I never like to rush the seasons. Happy November!

Courtney, I'm eager to see your table setting for Thanksgiving. I know it will be charming. I'm packing up the Halloween and tweaking things to honor the autumn season. Love this time of year.

We only carved pumpkins this year for Halloween decor- but yes, moving things around over here too! Thanks so much for stopping by Sarah!
