Beautiful baskets in decor are a favorite way to add a bit of charm. Whether you are layering them in decoration, storing something in a pretty way or just enjoying them by filling them with something like fruit and veggies or blooms- they are beautiful and so easy to incorporate into your home. And it is all about how to decorate with baskets today.

Mirrors, Chairs and yes… baskets are always on the sort through list at the thrift store and I am always bringing home ones that talk to me. Large, small, wonky – if they have character or are a perfect size, I love them.

Today we are talking about some ideas and a few favorite ways for how to decorate with baskets and how I use baskets.

How to decorate with Baskets
Baskets full of blooms
Fresh cut blooms in a basket are pretty much English country style perfection. I love to fill a wonky old basket with cut flowers. The key with fresh flowers is to be able to have either a container for water or a florist foam in a lined tray to be able to keep the flowers hydrated and happy.
The photo of flowers in the basket above is from my book FRENCH COUNTRY COTTAGE IN BLOOM.
Whether it is wild flowers and summer inspired mixes or simply beautiful roses in abundance, baskets full of flowers are always a lovely way to enjoy both.

Towels in the Bathroom
I found a big old vintage laundry basket and put it under the sinks in the bathroom for holding towels.

Perfect for decoration – I can fit about 12- 14 rolled up towels easily in this basket making it ideal for storage too.

Decor on a Beam
Gathered up baskets framing a doorway or hanging from an exposed beam is another lovely way to enjoy them and bring a charming style to your home. Simply add a few small nails or tacks and hang a variety of baskets in layers – as many or as few as you like is perfect.

Inside a Cupboard or an Armoire
A lovely way to keep all the things contained and cleaned up- using baskets for storing them.

I love to do this in the bathroom and in the kitchen. We took out a few of the drawers when replacing the sink and since the measurements changed, we decided to create open storage in this spot.

On a front door
This is such a fun way to enjoy smaller baskets full of flowers- fresh or faux. For the first example, I filled a thrift find Longaberger basket purse with flowers for a fun welcoming front door for guests.

For the second, this basket full of faux flowers with a jute bow is a lovely long lasting way to welcome guests. This is from my collection with Balsam Hill and is a favorite inside or outside. You can shop this French Market Basket HERE

Of course, there is no right or wrong way to enjoy baskets in your decor. You can use them for holding magazines or books by your chair. Stack them up on the island or hang them in a long display in the hall with hats. Or enjoy them in the garden full of fresh picked flowers or potted plants and so much more.

These are just a few ways I use baskets in decor all the time. What are some of your favorite ways to enjoy them?

I am always on the lookout for interesting baskets at our local thrift store. During the colder months I have a basket at the front entry filled with all sizes of knitted slippers. One is filled with rolled comfy throws for warmth while enjoying a good book. Jackie from Canada
Beautiful. I absolutely love baskets, and have quite a collection, but I do not have nearly as many flowers growing in my garden. How many rose bushes do you have, Courtney, and what other blooms do you have in your garden?
COURTNEY, YOUR FLOWERS AND BASKETS ARE SO BEAUTIFUL! YOU ALWAYS DO SUCH A LOVELY JOB! I LOVE BASKETS TOO AND FIND IT VERY HARD TO NOT BRING ONE HOME WITH ME. MY HUSBAND ALWAYS SAYS: “I KNOW YOU REALLY NEEDED THAT BASKET!” HAVE A GREAT WEEK, COURTNEY. I AM SO HAPPY THAT I WAS ABLE TO READ YOUR BLOG ONCE AGAIN. I HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY COMPUTER LATELY AND LOST SO MANY BLOGS THAT I LIKE TO FOLLOW. ANYWAY, THINGS ARE GOOD AGAIN AS I CAN READ YOUR WONDERFUL POSTS!
