How would you describe your perfect winter bedroom decor? Is it full of warm colors or does it look more like layers of neutrals?
Winter Bedroom Decor
There are so many beautiful ways to dress a winter bedroom to create an atmosphere that is perfect for you. When designing any space-from a room in a house to a gathering- I like to think about the what feeling I want to create and build from there. For a bedroom decor and design- the words that come to mind: Restful. Rejuvenating. Warm and welcoming.
Layers of Lovely
Layers and layers of lovely – one of my favorite things in any design. I love layers for interest and a feeling of warm cozy nourishment in a room. In our bedroom we have wood plank walls and ceilings and hardwood floors. So for warmth and coziness- it is all about bringing in soft elements. Like a rug underfoot or layers on the bed. My go to winter warmth layer on the bed is this velvet quilt. This quilt has been on the bed for winter for several years now. It is a favorite layer to warm me up and that rich color warms up the bedroom too.
Whether you follow trends and the latest if that is what you love- or stay with classic pieces that you rotate on repeat- if you design a room with things you love- that design will last and last.
Underneath, I usually have a ditsy floral linen duvet that adds a feminine charm. It is quite faded so it isn’t too ‘girly’ for the room. Though, if this is not layered here- it is almost always a white linen duvet that is simple. I tend to prefer to have several neutral color layers on the bed- even when using color on one of them- like the quilt.
Chunky Pillows
Along the back of the bed, 4 oversized pillows brings all kinds of squish and comfort. These are simple oversized European pillows with a white linen sham that is very clean cut on the edges for a quiet look. Of course you can go with a pattern or favorite look like a ruffled sham.
Choose the layers and the styles that speak to you to create your own personal perfect space to retreat to and rejuvenate.
Antique Charm
Above the bed, a charming antique mirror is a simple accent. This snap was from the holidays- so you can see the Christmas greens mixed in with the eucalyptus and twinkling tree in the background – a tip is to simply use fresh eucalyptus for winter and spring if you like the look. Just tie a few sprigs of eucalyptus with a ribbon and add it to the mirror.
Add a fresh custom touch to a mirror or wall with a few clippings of eucalyptus tied with a ribbon.
On the nightstand
How do you decorate your nightstand for winter decor? I am somewhat simple. I like to keep the nightstand decor pretty quiet – though sometimes there are stacks of books and bits that are inspiring me grouped there too.
On the nightstand, aside from the obvious usual elements like lighting and artwork – think candles, flowers and other elements that appeal to your senses.
A cozy start to the day

The faded duvet cover is wonderful, looks really soft. I like soft, cosy and fluffy pillows in the bedroom. That faded look appeals to me everywhere in a house.

Always beautiful and inspiring! I love the mirror you have hanging over your bed. I currently have nothing in this space. You’ve given me the idea of that is what i want in this space. I love gold mirrors and wondering on the size of which you have used. Just to give me an approximate dimensions for myself. Thank you in advance!
