It is that random weekend time
and this weekend, I am thinking about all kinds of random things
and none of them are involving the ‘big’ game that is going on today.
So, if you aren’t watching football
this one is for you.
😉
#1. Flat Iron fun
I used a flat iron to straighten something the other day- but it wasn’t my hair.
It was for wrinkles on a vintage linen.
After bringing that towel out and seeing it needed a little touch up with the iron- which of course decided to poop out on me…
I was desperate to get it looking smooth and then remembered something.
Back to that first time we tried using a straightener as an iron in a pinch- and it worked.
So I plugged it in, set it to turbo and went to town ironing that towel.
Voila.

#2. That other time
The other time we used a flat iron as an regular iron was on the GMC Hidden Treasure Adventure.
Zondra had curtains in the kitchen that were wrinkled-
and no iron available with only about 1 hour before the family arrived for the surprise reveal.

I grabbed my straightener out of my suitcase for her- and she ironed away.
It is either resourceful or crazy- not sure which –
but all I am telling you is that it works if you are ever in a pinch. 🙂

I also realized that I never shared the story about that fireplace.
Will have to get that one ready to share soon.
#3. THE Cheesecake
Yes, I am talking about THE cheesecake. You know the one?
The one that talked to me every time I opened the refrigerator and said
‘Here I am… you know you want a little bite.
Go for it. I won’t tell that mean old trainer of yours’

The one that has peanut butter, cream cheese, an oreo cookie crust, chocolate ganache topping
and a heaping of crumbled peanut butter cups throughout.
and a heaping of crumbled peanut butter cups throughout.
My family said it was the best cheesecake they have ever tasted.
I made it for a special birthday boy and I have to tell you ohhhh my…it was sooo good. I loved it.
And I feel like I gained 50 lbs.
So green protein shakes and double day workouts are on the menu for the next week for me…
but I will be sharing the recipe in case you want to live dangerously
and make it for your Valentine. 🙂
and make it for your Valentine. 🙂
Oh and that trainer of mine? Yeah, he found out. He follows me on instagram.
And I am doing a boat load of burpees and squats because of it.
He’s tough, but he is good and he offers personalized online training.
If anyone would like more info- let me know.
(But you might want to wait to contact him until AFTER the cheesecake recipe
comes out so you can enjoy it without being in trouble.)
😉
#4. Something Old, Something New
Thank you so much for all of your kind comments about the kitchen refresh!
I have received so many questions about the marble counters and I wanted to let you know that I will be doing a post all about marble.
How to choose the right one, how to seal them
and how to enjoy them without worrying about ‘patina’ that will come with them.
If you would like to see more of the kitchen makeover
you can find it HERE
#5. Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
(and the mantel, the desk, the sideboard, etc.)
This week over at Ebay, I shared a little about what I look for when choosing a mirror.
Doesn’t matter if they are vintage or newly made really.
I even talked about that one that was broken-why I bought it
and what I did with it.

and what I did with it.
You can find the post and all about it
And one more for the road~ in my post over at HomeGoods this week~
I am sharing a few photos of the kitchen there as well.
See you tomorrow for a romantic inspired post.
Happy Sunday everyone!

Great story about the straightners. Love all the floral so pretty.
Rosezeeta.
Thank you Rosezeeta!
LOL… yeah, there IS Life going on outside of that Game isn't there… only the Fellas are usually oblivious to it! *winks* Good thing we have more than one TV in the house or the Grand-Daughter would have been fighting with Grandpa over the remote control so she could watch 'Sponge Bob Square Pants' rather than Football! *Bwahahaha* Dawn… The Bohemian
Crazy, right? 😉 Thanks for stopping by!
Enjoyed your ebay "why I buy old mirrors" article – and as much as I am amazed at the "after" of your pink fabric-covered corkboard fix – the pic didn't show or you didn't exactly explain the truly broken frame on the right side. How did you fix that? I am curious because it is so neat but never in my wildest dreams would I have ever believed that frame could be fixed properly.
Hi Michele~ Sorry about that- the Ebay article is more of a condensed version of several posts. The fix was simple actually. Wood glue. It didn't really take much to put it back together. You can kind of see in the picture that the little wood joint piece is there at the top of the bottom broken section (does that make sense?) That piece of the frame just needed to go back together at the top and at the bottom- and it was good. Here is the link to the original post:

Love your article on the mirrors Courtney!
Thank you!!
I can't wait for the cheesecake recipe and I would love the contact information on your trainer — I will contact him AFTER the cheesecake 🙂
I can't tell you how many mornings I have been getting ready for work when That Man will come in the bathroom complaining about his collar. You know where this is going, right? Yep, a flat iron will fix a rogue collar tip in about 3.7 seconds flat! Glad to see I'm not the only 'imaginative' one out there.
