Did I mention that something was changing over here?
The winds of change have started blowing and they brought
sprinkles of pretty fabrics, florals and linens, vintage style furniture
gilded details and a whole new look.
It is true. And things are changing like pretty much literally as I type.
Remember how I decided to DIY that wreath a couple weeks ago
because I was avoiding the sawdust?
The sawdust is done.
And we are now onto paint fumes.
Yeah, baby.
And I cannot even begin to tell you what an incredible MESS
there is in that room we are working on right now.
Aye Aye Aye.
The hardest part for me in any renovation or refresh project
is living IN the project while it happens.
This particular refresh/part remodel
project goes back to that Romancing Your Home series we are working on.
And how making small (or large)
changes can help you to fall in love with your home all over again.
I have been falling out of love with elements of this room for awhile now.
And I have been resisting the urge to change things because
well… it wasn’t necessarily a bad look. I just didn’t love certain things any longer.
So I did the usual. I changed simple things like curtains or accessories
but… nope.
A larger scale something needed to happen in order to bring back that loving feeling.
And even with the sawdust and boxes and mess all around
I can tell you that it is already happening.
And I don’t even have the new elements in the room yet.
But, fingers crossed- the end of this week I will be sharing another peek.
Of course,
I can’t show everything yet because where would the fun be in the
whole big ‘move that truck’ reveal, right?
But I can show a couple sneak peeks and a color/style card deck
that hints just barely at what might be swirling around in my little head.
Things like delicious vintage patina with a perfect touch of gilding…

I am a diy blogger. I have put many a chandelier together.
But this one… aye aye aye…I tell you.
The most complicated, why didn’t I pay closer attention to math in school assembly of a chandelier
I have ever tackled.
It is seriously going to deserve an entire post all by itself.
The colors that are inspiring me?
They are mostly in the barely there family.
Like blush and soft faded french blues & greens
with a dash of rich golds mingling with creamy whites for flavor
paired with that well worn painted shabby vintage oh how I love it

It is going to be something completely different.
Well, with the exception of what is staying the same of course
but even with those elements- things will look completely different.
And quite a few things ARE staying the same.
Because this isn’t Extreme Makeover Home Edition
this is more like a Romancing Your Home Makeover Edition
that involves bringing in a few new things
working with what you love already
and paying attention to what inspires you.
I can tell you that I have 1 substantial new piece of furniture in my living room
as.we.speak.
And I might be walking by and petting it on occasion
and telling it how pretty it is.
It is a piece that dictated the direction of the makeover
color, style and overall look and feel wise.
You can see a small peek of it in the back of this photo-
but not really- I don’t want to spoil anything.

and picking up a few more delicious details
and will be sharing just what room it is that is getting a little romancing over here soon.

It sounds like you've got a great project on your hands! I have been thinking about romancing my home by doing a kitchen makeover. I'm particularly interested in giving the cabinets a face lift with some paint and persistence. I think it would do a lot to help me fall more in love with my home. I love the idea to "romance" the home!

I like chandeliers and painted furniture and live in a 1940 cottage and sometimes I have a hard time visualizing chandeliers and Glitz in a cottage. But you have helped me overcome that a lot.
