It is the start of busy season with autumn decorating, holiday planning and rearranging going on. The house is bustling with activity and so, I like to keep autumn projects on the simple side. And today this simple 5 minute autumn decor with pumpkins and foliage is a winner.
5 Minute Autumn Decor
This decor is beautiful all by itself- but add it in behind a table or on the porch and you can create a whole lot of autumn magic.
What we love: This literally takes 5 minutes to put together. It has just a few things you need- and you can bring in more or take some away if you prefer.
I used 4 things for this 5 minute autumn look:
- Fall foliage wreath
- Dried Eucalyptus branches
- Stackable faux pumpkins (you can use regular too)
- Fairy light Lanterns
How To
This is decor by the front patio table- and we have several full wine barrels there that get moved around and used for decor or extra tables. So if you have something like those- you can use them for this look. I like the height they have when set behind or just beyond the table. But you can simply use 1/2 barrels which are much easier to find, another table, large urn on a pedestal or even a tall stool, etc. There are no rules- so whatever you have that will work for the look you like is perfect.
I like the barrels- and half barrels would work beautifully as well- though they would be short so just something to keep in mind. I always get questions about where to find full barrels also. Since we are in the wine country areas over here in California- they are pretty much everywhere. If you don’t have wineries near you- you can call around and see if any further away are selling them. Check your local garden centers or online ads – you might find a couple that folks are selling.
Add the foliage
For the foliage base- simply place your wreath on the barrel and fluff to fill in the area and drape down a bit. Voila. That is it really. But if you decide you would like more drape or more oomph- or just some natural accents as well- tuck in some dried eucalyptus.
Stack your pumpkins
As I mentioned these are faux stackable pumpkins- but you can easily do this with a few real heirloom pumpkins as well. Simply place in the center of the wreath and stack away.
Add a little magic
I had those fairy light lanterns on repeat in the post other day and showed them being used in several areas. I like the small ones tucked in among the pumpkins or on the table but mostly preferred them at placed at the base of the barrels.
Tip: You don’t have to have all that autumn magic at eye level- layers of magic are a good thing too.
So you can add your lanterns below, along with the pumpkins, a strand of lights above or a strand of fairy lights on top of the pumpkins and it will be beautiful wherever you add them.
