Oh how I love the magic of the Christmas season- and I love to soak it up and savor it all as long as I can. So that means, the twinkling trees are up early, the mantels are dressed and there are little touches of Christmas everywhere- usually in October. And when it comes to entertaining- creating a magic filled holiday table is a favorite thing too. Today – I am sharing a couple ideas for adding a whole lot of Christmas magic & cheer to your holiday gatherings this year.
A magic filled holiday table
Today we are up by the barn and playing with table settings again. It has been a little bit since I have been up here setting tables. But today- it is all about bringing magic back here.
Start by looking at your backdrop and ways to add a beautiful ambiance. The barn has string lights, and a twinkling tree tucked inside to help to set the mood. Zigzag several strands of cafe string lights from branches over head to add ‘floating’ lights.
We switched the colorful lights for clear lights on the barn this year and I am loving how it looks. It is a simple and easy way to add an extra layer of charm all year long. Not just for the holidays- the ambiance is beautiful for summer gatherings too.
Ambiance on the table
I have used ornaments for centerpieces many times- but this one takes that idea to whole new level with twinkle lights inside. It is battery operated- so it is easy to add anywhere. A mantel, around the door or- on the table for a little more pizazz.
This lit Christmas ornament garland creates a centerpiece that takes center stage.
Tuck a few sprigs of greenery into the ornament garland for a fresh touch. Layer in taper candles and glass candles for even more ambiance.
Place setting details
A simple star ornament adds a charming touch to each place setting- and is also a sweet gift for guests to take home.
A marble serving board is filled with cheese and fruit for nibbles while waiting on dinner.
Festive Bar Cart
A beautiful way to dress up serving guest- create a festive filled bar cart for treats or drinks.
Add fresh greens & a velvet bow to dress up a simple bar cart for the holidays.
On the top- I placed a brass tray with mini mercury glass ornaments for a little something ‘extra’.
The stemware are a mix of vintage collected and new mix and mingle flutes. I love that the flutes have different textures on them. It creates a charming look- and makes it easy for guests to remember which glass is theirs if they set it down.
I also tucked in a couple of glass taper candlestick holders. Clear glass taper candlestick holders are perfect for adding candle ambiance while speaking ‘quietly’ with their simple design.

I love beautiful Table settings, however there is no room for food. do you remove all that beaUTIFUL WORK OF ART OR DO YOU DO BUFFET STYLE?
Courtney says
Hi Sissy!
Yes, we usually will place food on a sideboard or serve smaller containers at the table. I also love the ‘spaces’ on the table to be filled in so am okay with a bit a extra busy on the table with food too. I think it is all personal preference and whatever works best for you works perfectly. 🙂 The neat thing about a garland like this one is that it would be simple to remove if you wanted to.

What a beautiful table!!
I’d love to purchase someof these items, but UNFORTUNATELY none of the pictures load.

Hi Christine! Here on my blog or at the links? It could be a temporary glitch – I just tried them and they loaded for me so maybe try again?
