Last week I shared a brassy vintage gold gallery wall made up simply of
empty frames and vintage mirrors.
Some of the mirrors were non conformers when I brought them out-
meaning they weren’t that brassy gold color I was looking for.
But they were the right shape or had the right details so they needed a bit of paint to get
them to blend in.

Like this one.
This mirror was in my bedroom above the fireplace awhile back and it was dry brushed with a white originally. It was okay in that finish and it’s simple to go back to when I change my mind.
Another little mirror in the gallery wall
was red when I bought it-and it has been about 5 different colors since.

I started with Annie Sloan Chalk paint in Duck Egg Blue

A coat of the blue covered the red perfectly.
Up next~ came a layer of metallic gold craft paint brushed on
but not in every nook and cranny.
I just layered the gold over the smooth areas for good coverage
and on the details simply brushed it on lightly.
The next step was to rub a bit of that gold away.
I used a cloth while the paint was not fully dry and rubbed it along the areas I wanted more
blue to show through and then let it dry.
A light layer of Annie Sloan dark wax on the top
and it was finished.
Easy easy easy and I love how it turned out.
Oh yes, and the Gallery Wall has stayed up in the hallway.
I’m loving it
🙂
Hope your week is off to a great start!
Very, very pretty! The patina looks old!! Lynda
I just used duck egg blue on a buffet and love it–your mirror is gorgeous!
Une patine très réussie… J'adore les miroirs anciens… Autrefois aussi étrangement que cela soit, je ne supportais pas d'avoir un miroir chez moi! Alors qu'à présent j'aime ça!…
Gros bisous
The gallery wall is beautiful, Courtney!

Love the new finish.
I love it, Courtney! What wonderful light reflection you must get here. Love how you made over the mirrors you had. The two you are talking about in this post are very pretty with great shapes.
It looks great Courtney! I am collecting mirrors and old frames to do something similar up our stairs.
I love especially the light blue you choose to put down. It's delicious now!

The finish is absolutely perfect! Thanks for sharing the "how to". I am collecting thrift store mirrors to do a mirror wall in my bedroom and this will be something I will definitely try myself. Blessings, Patti

I love what you do Courtney.. A visit to your blog is like a visit to a good friends home. Enchanting and memorable. Love the wall. I have done this many times and it always amazes me how wonderful the finished product looks. (note: try a pale pink instead of blue as a base…surprising)~~~Char
So awesome!! and so easy too;) thank you for sharing this, love it!! x
Gorgeous! Can you tell us what brand of metallic gold paint you used? Can't wait to try this!!!!
Thanks!
Hi Christine~
It's Folk Art craft store paint I think- I already tossed it out. I am sure you can use any metallic you like and get a similar look.
Wow, amazing. That gallery wall is wonderful! I'm so glad we all get to pop over here to see what you're up too and grab some inspiration while we're here! I just adore your blog. Thanks for sharing and always inspiring.

I love how the blue softens the look but still lets the gold take the spotlight. Really changes that red mirror to something special.
A late comer to your blog who is totally enchanted with your natural flair. We are re-doing our kitchen and using those of your design ideas we can incorporate into our much smaller kitchen. I wish I had you in my back pocket to guide the way!
Stunning! Thank you for sharing how you achieved this look!
You did a beautiful job! A work of art…
Could this TECHNIQUE be used successfully on a BATHROOM vanity? Its just me so will be treated gently. Your work is amazing. Thank you
