It is that weekend view time again.
This weekend it is all about the blooms, house painting plans and a few fun things coming your way.
Garden updates
Last week, I shared a peek of the apple tree by the patio in full blooming beauty. And this week, it is all about the foxgloves, larkspur and lambs ear.
The foxgloves are in and blooming away
and we are adding a few more favorites for various areas.
I will be doing a few updates on cottage gardening this month- and sharing a closer look at these beauties as well as some of the ‘green staples’ I have in the garden.
Along with some of the wildflower seeds I am planting- in case you are looking for some pretties.
Greenhouse
So far, the greenhouse is blooming along nicely- you can see the wisteria that is blooming on the one side- and the one that is leafing out on the other. I am excited to add to this area this year.
And picked up some of my favorites yesterday.
Morning light in the bedroom
I am always doing the bedding shuffle over here. Florals to ruffles to quilts and linens. And it seems like every spring- I am most definitely changing the looks. I have 3 new pieces of bedding I purchased last month- and am just now finally getting around to photographing them to share with you. A quick change post is coming your way- and can we talk about this gorgeous morning light? I am in love with spring and summer sunshine in windows.
Grand dog Update
If you follow me on instagram you know that my grand dog, Mr. Weenie, has been back at our house last week. He was vomiting everything he ate got better and then started vomiting again.
We were concerned about a blockage since he had gotten into garbage earlier in the week and so- off to the Vet. The x-ray didn’t show anything- but it did show he needed to go potty-
so they decided he may be constipated from having some stomach issues and it might work itself out over the next couple of days.

The good news- he stopped throwing up and
he will eat a few teaspoons of food and he has been licking water and peeing.
But he hasn’t pottied yet.

It’s possible he may have IBS. I’m not sure the prob runs in dachshunds. Vet should be able to DX if he has more episodes. Our Great Dane had IBS. one time he had an awful bout of food poisoning from lambs meat (hindsight). After that horrible episode, he was on medications for the rest of his life. It’s possible ur grand dog could benefit from a short run of Flagyl and maybe Pepcid. That is what our Great Dane, Jackson, lived on for the rest of his life. After the bout of poisoning, we tried to wean him off but the symptoms always returned. Vomiting can be a symptom of IBS. Constipation and diarrhea are opposite ends of the spectrum in IBS. When Jackson’s symptoms were at their worst, I cooked him white chicken meat and white rice. When we got the symptoms under control, we slowly added an organic dog food back in to his diet. It was a no grains dog food also. Hope this gives ur daughter some ideas to pursue with the vet.

Poor little one – this is not a diagnosis, but you might want to ask the vet about giving a tiny bit of canned pumpkin (natural – no sugar or spices). It's sometimes used for constipation and diarrhea in dogs. The vet would know whether this is a good remedy for the ailment. Good luck.

I'm so sorry to hear what Mr. Weenie has been going through. It sounds very much like pancreatitis. I have chronic pancreatitis and my dog has bouts of it as well. If this is the case the only solution is for him to stop eating..which he is already doing naturally. There is no medicine to be given that will settle it down only pain med for the pain. Not eating is the only way to settle it down and only sips of water. When I have to be hospitalized with it, they don't allow me to eat or drink for days and can only have ONE ICE CHIP PER HOUR. So, Mr. Weenie is already doing what he needs to do, naturally, so don't encourage him to eat for this will only extend his pain and illness. When it settles down he will gradually return to eating normally. Blessings for healing!…Julie
Canned pumpkin 100% pure is the ticket. My dog eats pumpkin with his food everyday. Super fibrous so it works for constipation or diarrhea and is full of antioxidants. Hope your grand puppy feels better soon!

Ask the vet for the SNAP test for pancreatitis. Otherwise I concur w/the pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix as stated already) — start w/1 TBSP & see how it goes. It helps w/both constipation & diarrhea. You can also add a small amount of flaxseed to his diet. If he has long term issues I would consider a BAT (bile acids test) which is a paired liver enzyme test—not part of a normal CBC or chem panel—must be requested. Some dogs w/liver issues won't eat. Let us know how pup is doing.
So sorry to hear about your sweet Mr Weenie. See someone else recommended plain pumpkin…we have had good results with it for constipation in our dogs too. Check with Vet for how much to give according to dog’s size. Also you may want to check with your Vet about switching to Royal Canin low fat intestinal dog food for awhile. It is a prescription dog food. Our 15 1/2 year old Bichon has had chronic pancreatitis and stomach issues every couple of months her whole life. She was prescribed this food exclusively 3 years ago and it has been a life changer for her. Hope Mr. Weenie will feel better soon. Judy
For what this is worth. I don't have dachshunds, but I have a love of dogs. I'm not sure what brand your daughter is feeding her baby. Someone already mentioned eating no grains. This is true. I feed my dog Blue Seal brand and she loves it. I hope Mr. Weenie gets better and you all get to the bottom of this. Nothing worse then seeing your pup not feeling well.

DO YOU HAVE ANY HOLISTIC VET'S IN YOUR AREA?? I WOULD ASSUME SO. YOU MAY WANT TO CONSULT WITH THEM. I WOULD NOT WAIT TO LONG IF HE DOESN'T POTTY. YOU DON'T WANT IT TO GO FROM OBSTRUCTION TO ERUPTION INSIDE THE BOWEL WHICH CAN BE FATAL. I HOPE THIS ALL GETS SOLVED SOON. PEOPLE WHEN THEY HAVE AN OBSTRUCTION , ABOVE THE OBSTRUCT. I feel your pain and anguish for both the dog being sick and your responsibility in trying to figure it all out for him and the vet. I have a great little dog with (for lack of a better term, IBS, vomit and diarrhea) The best for him has been, so far, 3 small grain-free meals a day which include the same amount of warm water as of soaked for 3 minutes dry food. 1 meal will include total-zymes and water, 1 will be either just food and water or just dry food, last meal will include total-biotics and water. He has been on this regime for about a year, has finally gained and held weight and has fewer controllable bouts. You can feed a quality dry dog food with water or canned food but it takes a lot of canned to get the necessary nutrition. Raw dog food is truly the best if you can afford it. Sadly most veterinarians do not know enough about foods or are improperly swayed by the certain dog foods they sell or are sponsored by so your best bet is to find a highly recommended quality dog food store and try their suggestions. I had a phone consult with Karen Becker, DVM years ago and she was extremely helpful with my dog that I was nursing through radiation treatments for cancer. Extra water alone in the pups current food may at least help with his constipation and keep him hydrated in case he vomits. I'd be happy to give you further suggestions as I've read many books and researched the heck out of the internet. Sometimes you have accept it as just a balancing act as opposed to a total cure but I personally keep researching and trying for a better way all the time. Best Wishes!
