This week has been all about wrapping up projects, taking photos and working on busy things behind the scenes. (Stay tuned for a project reveal next week!) So the weekend view this week is mostly snippets from wandering the yard and what we have been up to.
Silkies Wandering
The chickens have been out and about soaking up spring sunshine over here. From wandering in the garden and following me around while I work
to sitting on the steps and enjoying the view.
We are currently planting all kinds of veggies in the veggie garden and they are enjoying picking at different things that we leave for them to enjoy as well. These are the sweetest chickens I tell you. And that Mr. Frizz- he is a character and loves to follow me and be held. I shared a fun reel compilation of them on Instagram last week if you follow French Country Cottage over there- you might enjoy it. 🙂
What About Bob
If you have been reading my blog awhile – you might remember the post I wrote when I first started blogging that compared me to Bob and how he ‘sailed’ and a ‘was a sailor now’. What About Bob is such a funny movie- and if you are someone who has anxieties and quirks like he does (hello- that is me!) then you can really relate to it.
It has been a few years since we watched it but last week, my daughter was at the house for the night and so we watched it out by the fire. So.much.fun.
Grand Dogs
We have also had our grand dogs over several times in the past week. My son Cullan has brought his two dogs over while he was working on a building project with my husband- and my oldest son Ryan and his fiancé also came for dinner and brought our grand dog Millie. She has finally started to get pretty comfy and cozy with coming over to the house and with other people. My son works from home and when they lived in Las Vegas and got Millie- they didn’t really see any other folks with dogs at all. So she has had to get used to being around other dogs and other people since moving here. She goes out for walks with a neighbor dog a few times a week and comes over to the house to visit. It has taken a few months for her to get used to ‘people’ but she has done so much better recently and seems to understand that people and other dogs are safe and okay to be around now. I kind of wonder if we are all going to have a tad of social anxiety like Millie after this past year.
Foxgloves
The foxgloves are pretty much insanely huge already this year. I can’t remember when they have been so large and full and also so tall with many more spikes coming in all at the same time.
I will be doing quite a few photos of these in the next few weeks to capture their beauty. For more on Foxgloves- you can read all about 8 Things To Know here.
Vegan Tomato Soup & Sandwich
The simplest dinner. And seriously one of our favorites right now- I cannot tell you how many times we have had this in the past two months. Is it wrong to have soup and a sandwich more than once a week?
My oldest son and his fiancé have been requesting it when they come for dinner as well- so I think it is safe to say everyone is hooked. And yes, I do sometimes use a fork and knife with my sandwich. I am odd. haha.
Wandering
This week, I have been pretty chock full busy behind the scenes with lots of deadlines and business on the calendar- but I did a little wandering while relaxing in the evening and here are a few things to share this week:
Create: This beautiful spring wreath is So pretty and so easy to make.
Make: This lentil soup we made in Capri is a favorite- and it is perfect for those rainy spring days. Plus- those Capri photos are giving me major travel wanderlust.
Happy Weekend all.

Love your frizzle/silkie.
They just make me smile. I had silkies just for the beauty of them but truly, they were the ones that made me laugh.
I had to give them up with a move but now my sister is (quietly) known as the crazy chicken lady! She is in for a treat I tell you!
thanks for sharing and bringing up some fun memories!

I love that You use mixed patterns of vintage flatware. I do the same, they’re so much prettier than contemporary flatware. I pick them up at estate sales and wherever I find them, and I have one of those patterns in the photo!

Courtney,
Your chickens are so adorable. They almost look like stuffed toys. I always enjoy your blog posts. The foxglove are lovely. I’ve planted them this year and they’re almost ready to bloom.
enjoy the coming week.
