Happy weekend everyone.
It is time for that this and that and all things random post.
This weekend it is all about photo shoots, webinars and finding the balance in winter.
Last week was a busy week of photo shoot prep and behind the scenes kind of work. January has been a busy month so far and a couple more busy busy coming up. Whenever I have a chock full calendar- I try to work ahead as much as possible to notch some of the work off.
Photos, Videos and More
This week is full of video shoots, photo shoots and more. I am working on a special behind the scenes video shoot for something exciting coming your way from my Balsam Hill family. Stay tuned to IG for snippets if you want to see what we are up to.
Design Bloggers Tour webinar
Thanks so much to all of you who joined in for the Design Bloggers Tour webinar last week that was all about trends spotted at High Point Market. It was super fun to hear everyones perspectives and see what caught their eye and made an impression on them. I will be sharing the link to the webinar when it is available for replay in case you missed it.
Balance
I have been trying to find the balance a bit this January.
After the busy of the holidays and running around to catch up on various projects- I have found myself feeling less like me recently.
And as I mentioned before -I am back using Shakeology every day and my son is sending me workouts via email (he is an online personal trainer). Quite a few recent requests have inspired a new series that will be starting up next week.
Don’t worry- not going all guru on you- but I will share more mostly vegetarian recipe ideas for entertaining and everyday here and there.
On the Run
And on that same token- I asked and you guys answered big time. I don’t have the best knees- though recently I have been sprinkling Turmeric on my dinner every night and it has made a huge difference. But something I noticed was that I was getting shin splints and knee pain again when running. I like to run 3-4 times a week- and my knee has been golden until recently. So I figured it was time to swap my shoes for some new ones. I asked what you guys recommend and overwhelmingly the response was Brooks. I ordered a pair that just arrived- and will be weighing on if they worked for me.
Your Feedback
Can you believe that I have been writing this blog for over 6 years and inching away towards 7 this year?
It started out as a happy place and it continues to be a happy place and over the years a lot has changed in blog land!
But know that I absolutely love coming here and connecting with you every day.
I mentioned that I am working on a fresh look for French Country Cottage and in that process,
I know there may be some things you might want to see or suggestions for ideas to blog about and yes, not blog about, etc.
So we put together a short 7 question survey that I would love your feedback on.
It is anonymous and easy.
and thank you!!
New year- new look
And in that new year, new look, new French Country Cottage- there is something fun coming your way in the next month or so… it might have to do with something with flowers. And something else to do with my book. And a gift for you. And a whole new look for my blog.
Stay tuned- and if you aren’t subscribed yet- I would love to have you!
You can also connect with me on Instagram where I share quite a bit more behind the scenes and everyday snippets- like this snap that was from the photo shoot at Rachel Ashwell’s house earlier this month.
Coming your way tomorrow-
Sharing a couple of ideas for inspired winter entertaining out under the stars
and on Wednesday- it is all about ideas for a romantic inspired table for Valentines Day
I am also working on that kitchen island post and sharing how one simple thing inspired a whole new look-
and as requested – all the details about the range hood. You guys might be surprised at how that range hood came to be- and how easy it was to get a custom look.
That is it for random weekend- thank you in advance about the survey- happy Sunday everyone.

Happy Monday, Courtney! I took your survey, too. Part of me misses your old style. I liked the red checked sofa and the picture frame chalkboards mixed in. It made your site unique. I do agree that change is good but too much can take away what’s personal about someone. I like bed seeing your gardens last year and always love your patios ~ still want those cane patio chairs! Lol!!! ???? Guess I’m less for change as time goes on. Hope you still have your beautiful blueish Italian painted furniture. Maybe bring some of those pieces back in and share them with the new French Heritage and Eloquence pieces. ????
Have a great week!
