Have I ever told you that I am obsessed with wall murals and papers?
I once wallpapered our bathroom in red toile. And in one of our first homes- I went a tad crazy with wallpaper in several rooms.
But you know, my love doesn’t stop with traditional wallpapers. I also love those beautiful pastoral paintings, wall murals and fabrics. One of my absolute favorites is the canvas mural that we had in the dining room.
So why am I obsessed? I guess the traditional loving side of me loves that traditional feeling of wallpaper in a room. And probably also because our home is full of wood plank walls in every.room. The kitchen. The bathrooms. The closets, halls and bedrooms. Except one. That one bedroom had to have the boards removed due to old rot from water damage when we moved in.
When we had sheet rocked that bedroom -which was ours when we first moved in- I covered all the sheetrock with a beautiful vining floral wallpaper. Which when we did the whole bedroom switcharooo when we added on- my daughter moved into the old bedroom and was not a fan of that wallpaper and so, we added the ‘bead board’ which has never been a favorite of mine.
Side note: that floral wallpaper is still under the bead board… which makes me want to tackle taking it all down to see if it is usable. 🙂
We are re-doing that bead board we are not loving and I am currently searching high and low for a beautiful mural wallpaper that fits my idea of everything perfectly.
You know what one of the best things about wallpapers and murals are? Unless they are hand painted in place- many of them are now peel and stick instead of glue which means they are a fairly easy way to update a room.
Here a few that caught my eye while shopping (some affiliates)
12 beautiful wall coverings
#1. Pastoral Wall Mural
Obsessed with beautiful rolling countryside murals- this is one I found that is absolutely beautiful- and affordable.
#2. With a more French Country feeling
Can we talk about this one with the cows included? I am in love with it and can imagine it across all 4 walls and enveloping the room completely.
#3. Traditional Toile
Of course a traditional toile is a huge favorite as well. I love this one-
#4. Chinoiserie Dream
I love twining vines, birds and blooms- and this chinoiserie paper is a beautiful subtle color scheme.
#5. Black & White Toile
I always love a traditional black and white toile- this one is a beautiful and affordable option.
#6. Vintage inspired toile
I mean – this is beyond beautiful. I love the soft muted colors.
#7. Pastoral Toile On Repeat
So pretty and traditional- I think this would be gorgeous for a dining room.
#8. Bird Toile
Similar to the wallpaper I had in the bathroom- this has a mix of birds and vines.
#9. Pastoral rivers
All I can say is this paper look so pretty- I love the watercolors.
#10. Red Floral Toile
Another beautiful red floral toile option.
#11. Larger scale floral
Sometimes a larger scale but more repeat is what you are looking for. This has a somewhat modern vibe to it- I have seen rooms papered top to bottom in similar and they are beautiful.
#12. Chinoiserie Chic
Chinoiserie is always a favorite as well. The colors and inspired patterns are just so pretty and I love the idea of even an accent wall with these. LOVE the golden yellow also.
And then there are vintage floral papers… which I am also crushing on right now. Basically, I haven’t decided just what direction I am going in with the rooms we are looking to wallpaper- but I will keep you posted. And I will share more design plans for the other rooms soon too.
Which of these is your favorite?

Though maybe not my favorite of those shown, the pastoRal tivers in the turq would fit perfectly on the small wll section that i cuRrently have wallpapered. It is defin my style though i dont think my husband would be happy with it. We live on a small lake and to me it would be just perfect.

The peaceful, muted countryside of #1 is so lovely! I would love to have tHis mural on the back wall oF my sunroom. The Natural tones wouldn’t compete with any of my seasonal decor, but would Soften and enhance tHem. I have painted murals before, and your post has inspired me to possibly try to replicate that one. Thank you for sharing these beautifUl wall coverings!
