A Christmas mantel
that is elegant & charming
and can be put together in 5 minutes?
Does it even exist?
Yes, it does.
This time of year is filled with busy, busy, busy.
From decking the halls
to baking
to entertaining
to shopping
to wrapping
to the 5 extra cups of coffee it takes to fully wake up in the morning.
It can be a bit much sometimes.
So my best advice is to tackle in bits and pieces
and plan for simple, elegant and easy decorating.
Because if you are anything like me…
You decorate. You stop. You stare. You think. You redecorate.
You stop. You stare. You think.
You redecorate again…
You follow me?
So, how about mantel decoration that can be accomplished in 5 minutes
that if you decide to redecorate 5 times again and again…
you are under a half an hour even so.
And yep, that is a doable amount of time.
In our bedroom,
I wanted simple and natural touches this year
and I started with that gorgeous green velvet color on the stockings as inspiration.
Here is what I used
and how I put it together.
What you need:
Eucalyptus
Hydrangeas
Ornaments
Vintage inspired trophy cup
I started by laying the fresh eucalyptus branches on the top of the mantel
No need to wire these bad boys- they will stay just as they are.
Up next, I grabbed a large trophy cup
and filled it with some of my dried hydrangeas
and just a few trailing eucalyptus leaves.
You can use whatever type of container you would like- this is just something that I had in the stash
and felt like was a good size for what I wanted.
Then to finish it-
I added a few gold ornaments on the eucalyptus
and you can add the candle sticks as well if you would like
and then call it good.
Seriously simple,
AND under 5 minutes.
Up next in the 5 minute mantel series- that mantel in my office.
and a simple change to this mantel as well.
Hope your Wednesday is off to a great start.

Elegant and calm. Loved the cup and the two photos with the close ups of the ornaments are ideal for Christmas cards.

Hi Courtney, really a beautiful mantle. I love the eucalyptus but can't seem to find any. Do you get yours from the mart or a florist? Do they sell it at Trader Joe's or Costco..Merry Christmas..Judy
Courtney says
Hi Judy!
I buy it at the SF flower market and can usually find it at Whole Foods as well. I haven't really seen much of it at Trader Joe's or Costco. Hope that helps!

It looks like you seriously use a lot of lights. Is there any tip for light placement you can share?
