A delicious ooey gooey feel good recipe for anytime of year- but especially in the chilly months when something warm and melted is even more delicious. Like this delicious & easy melted Camembert cheese.

We are kicking off our winter baking series here on the blog and in winter it is all about cozy recipes to warm you up. And the Easiest of recipes too- because, I am all about easy and delicious. I will be sharing some of our favorite recipes and how we have adapted them to our vegetarian low carb diet along with sourdough adventures. Which is definitely opposite of low carb. haha. But while I have been baking bread & have been gifting the loaves rather than enjoying- I have learned a few things over the past year.
Winter Baking- Melted Camembert Cheese
We first enjoyed this melted camembert while in the Cotswolds in England. We were staying in a little off the beaten path pub on a country road and went down for dinner one evening and found this camembert recipe on the menu. It was a no hesitation order since it sounded so amazing and it definitely did not disappoint.
Melted Camembert Ideas
You might remember seeing the recipe in my Christmas book- when we got to Paris, we found a wheel of camembert at the market and decided to try to recreate the recipe for the book. And it was as easy to make as it is delicious. I am sharing just a quick recipe below – we didn’t add any toppings so I can’t recommend any specific ones but you can absolutely top with anything you would like.
A couple topping ideas:
- Drizzle with honey and fig
- Add pine nuts or other nuts like pecans or slivered almonds
- Sprinkle with chunky seat salt and drizzle with balsamic vinegar
- Add a few spoonfuls of jam- I would suggest probably a fig or raspberry
- Drizzle in olive oil, add roasted garlic and a sprinkle of herbs
- Truffle Oil with a bit fresh herbs
- Really- top it with whatever speaks to you- I think it would be delicious anyway you enjoy it.
- A few ideas of what to serve alongside: Add in a bit of fresh fruit like winter citrus. A handful of dates, nuts, winter berries or grapes. A side of dark chocolate bark for a little sweetness. Think nibble boards and what you like and incorporate the melted camembert to those.
- Don’t forget to slice up a bit of warm fresh baked bread-or crusty day old bread if you prefer. Your favorite crackers (we love Miltons seed crackers) or if you are low carb like I am- grab a spoon and enjoy without the added carbs. De.li.cious!

Easiest of Recipes
As mentioned- the camembert we ordered was simple ‘naked’ camembert- aka- no toppings save for a drizzle of oil maybe and so, this is how it was explained to us to make it- so simple and easy to make. Tips- take your camembert out of the fridge about an hour before baking to let it warm up a bit. And don’t get too crazy and bake at a higher temperature and think it will melt quicker- it might just get too chunky then. Lower temperature for a bit longer if needed is best.
You Need:
- A wheel of Camembert Cheese
- Toppings of choice
- Parchment paper
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Take your camembert wheel ( small or large) and you can either slice the top layer off to remove the rind- or you can score the top layer of rind in a crosshatch pattern. It is a matter of preference really- some folks love to enjoy more rind- others not so much. It will melt either way.
Place the camembert cheese on a piece of parchment paper inside a container to hold shape. If yours came inside a little wood box you can use that. (NOTE some brands in the U.S. are cardboard – those are NOT meant for the oven) In the wood container is how ours was baked and served to us in England. After scoring, place your brie in the container into your warm oven for about 20 minutes – or until it is melted and creamy. No need to stir or rotate.

How to Serve
Serve in the little container it came in and simply layer a wood board (or parchment paper) with fresh bread and veggies, slices of bread, crackers or just spoon it on out as you wish.
It is seriously so.darn.good and we have made it several times for guests and it is always a hit. I have been asked if Camembert is the same as Brie and if you could you use that instead. Brie and Camembert are not the same cheese but really do look so similar and I think you could get away with this recipe using brie and it would be amazing- topped or untopped. We love brie cheese as well- but honestly, between the two- we prefer the creaminess and buttery flavor of the camembert. Of course, you may prefer the other so I say give it a go and see what you think. Either way- enjoy!

Happy cozy season baking.
I just fixed a gooey grilled cheese but this sounds so much better. I now feel cheated. LOL
We traveled to Paris last November and rented an apartment from the same company you did for your Christmas book. It was lovely? The Eiffle Tower winked at us every evening.
