Get The Look: 7 Vintage Inspired Chandeliers

Did you know what kind of lighting our kitchen started with? It wasn’t fancy. It wasn’t elegant. Matter of fact, it had a beer bottle pull dangling from it to turn it on. A designer vision right? haha. But you know what? We lived with that classic 1970’s style ceiling fan for about 6 months after moving in. Until one day I stopped at a thrift store after teaching an after school Science class and found a vintage crystal laden brassy gold chandelier hanging in the window. With a $20 price tag.

I probably stared at that chandelier for 20 minutes debating with myself that though my heart was swooning for it- I lived in a very rustic, very broken down cottage that has a more ‘cottage’ style. I didn’t know where I could put this beautiful chandelier and have it feel like it had always belonged there. And this was during the time when we were buying new siding a few pieces at a time- so spending money on something pretty meant that it had to work for the room. Of course, I convinced myself it would work- or it would go in another room. And so, it came home with me. Though I didn’t tell my husband just where I thought it belonged until he was home. He thought I was a tad crazy (he wasn’t wrong) and he didn’t think a light like that would work in the very rustic wood wall kitchen we had. I asked him to humor me for a moment- and when it turned on- I was in love.

Though just one vintage chandelier wasn’t ideal as far as enough lights to fill our 20 foot long kitchen – it was as good as the minimal light the ceiling fan brought- but I figured I would have to replace with a larger chandelier when we found one. Then several years later- I found a matching vintage chandelier at another thrift store about an hour away. And so- one became two and even though we have changed a lot of the lighting in the house- I haven’t been able to swap those kismet finds out just yet.

And though they aren’t perfect-one is missing a couple small arms and crystals – they really feel like they were meant to be here and are part of this house story. They are also very popular with all of you and I get questions all the time about where to find them. Unfortunately- as I mentioned- since ours are vintage- it is not so easy to source them for all to enjoy. So, a beautiful reproduction with a similar look is ideal. I have done some shopping and have found a few chandeliers that have a similar look, style, shape and size to our kitchen chandeliers- and at some pretty good price points too.

This one is also very similar to ours- we have just 5 lights on ours so this one offers a bit more with an extra light. I love the details and shape of the frame Around $600.

Small with Big Style

For impact in a smaller space and with a smaller price point- sharing a few options for small but might chandeliers. Depending on what size chandeliers you are looking for -these can give you the look you are after for big impact in your kithen- and less impact on your budget. This Legacy Crystal chandelier is such a charmer. Just over $300.

French Gold Chandelier

This is such a pretty chandelier – also smaller on footprint but big on style and impact in your space. Just over $400

Big Impact Chandeliers

On the opposite side of that smaller size and budget- if you have a kitchen with peaked tall ceilings and ample square footage- or a huge island that needs something more to really fill the space above it- these chandeliers are for you. I found a couple very similar look- but much larger sizes (and many more crystals!)

Crystal 8 Light Chandelier

This one is talking loudly to me- and it only costs a little bit more than the smaller 6 light chandelier we just talked about. If you have a larger kitchen and want more impact and more light- this chandelier is perfection. Even with all those lights and all those crystals- the price is still coming in under $800 which is amazing.

12 Lights = Amazing

This is definitely a showstopper- and honestly- the price is incredible for the amount of lights and details this one has. Just over $1100.

Bonus: Crystal Cage Chandelier
