You know that delicious barely blushing blush color? That soft pale shade of pink that doesn’t shout ‘pink’ and that almost looks like a cream with a rosy tint? That dreamy color reminds me of the ballet slippers & leotard I used to wear for dance class each week when I was little. I think I might have fallen in love with ‘Blush’ way back then- and it has been a color that I have loved since. Blush is one of those colors that is pretty much perfection for me. It goes perfectly with brassy golds, silvers and copper- and also with all kinds of colors. It is like a neutral- and can be mixed and mingled in many settings indoors and outdoors and I do incorporate it both spaces. I seem to always have some blush love going on over here- and will admit that the first thing I am drawn to when shopping for pillows or a throw- are those beautiful blushing colors. Some blush are more of a sweet ‘pastel pink’ color- and others more of a muted almost slightly apricot based color. I definitely shy away from any ‘blush’ that leans too pink and tend to prefer the neutral look. The ones that are less pink and more ‘nude’ color are my favorites- I find that speaks my language and is an easier shade to live with in any room. But how do you decorate with blush and not make a room feel too ‘sweet’? That is just what we are talking about today and I am sharing 12 ways to decorate with that rosy shade of pink without it being overwhelming. #1. Use blush as an accent Blush doesn’t have to rule the whooooole color palette in the whole room. Bring it in to your room in small bits. Throw pillows on the sofa, a single chair or settee- add a layer of that rosy goodness and instantly warm it up. #2. Think of it as a neutral One of my favorite blush pillows has a delicious layer of jute trim around the edge which softens the color and makes it feel more like a ‘neutral’. You can do much the same by using blush as a neutral in a room. Tuck it in with natural linens and creams and see how it blends perfectly.See more of this styling on the patio here #3. Bring in a rosy tone throw A super simple way to incorporate blush without making a pillow or paint commitment – a throw. A throw is such an easy way to instantly change the mood and add a pop of pretty. Loving this striped throw from Target for spring and summer #4. Keep it simple I love a beautiful blushing floral print- and have been known to layer them on the bed. But if you are just dipping a toe into ‘blush’ – keep it simple. Leave the florals, checks and prints out and bring in just the quiet color first. You an always add those prints later when you are feeling more like jumping in for more. #5. Think Texture Texture is always a favorite for me. I love nubby linens, chunky knits and embroidered beauty. And back to that favorite blush pillow? It is a beautiful pale blush with a soft subtle texture that is almost like a woven raw silk- kind of like these. In my opinion – that texture softens the tone and leans more ‘ballet slipper nude’ than pink. #6. Walk on the wild side If you are feeling more daring or want a bigger burst of color in your space- paint an accent wall in your favorite dreamy blush color. Blush walls are insanely beautiful- and if you want that color to feel more ‘masculine’ than ‘feminine’ – pair it with a charcoal or black accent instead of a soft gray or blue. That darker color will help soften the pink tones. #7. Underfoot A blush rug is the best of both worlds- that dreamy color and that texture. Think vintage or vintage style for a more bohemian feeling – or blush sisal for the color/texture combo and keeping the look clean. #8. On the table Blush place settings? Yes please. Some of my absolute favorites are simple modern style blush plates- they are more of a ‘gray’ toned blush which mingles perfectly with golds and silvers. #9. Textured wallpaper Oh my… anyone else remember that grass cloth type wallpaper from back.in.the.day.? It is hugely popular again right now for that thing it does best- bring in texture and interest on the wall. And even better- grasscloth now comes in delightful shades-like this blush one here. #10. An accent lamp One of my favorite lamps is this blush lamp in our bedroom. Soft and feminine with a pop of gold – and it blends perfectly with the other colors and patterns easily. #11. Candles I know- a simple one right? But blush candles are a super easy and charming way to bring that touch of pink into your home or on the table. Love these vintage style glass ones #12. Flowers Of course. One of the BEST ways to bring in that pretty blush to your room without any decor changes- blush blooms. Garden roses, peonies, ranunculus, wildflowers- you name it. Those blush flowers will warm up any room instantly.
I could go on and on probably- because using blush in my decor is something I am pretty passionate about. But I hope these simple ideas give you some inspiration for how you can add a rosy tone to your home -whether you want to go big or just give that blush a bit of subtle spotlight. Happy Wednesday all.

I'm inspired! I have mostly pale aqua as my accent color so I don't know how blush pink would work. What do you think? I remember when seafoam green and blush pink were so on trend! Guess that will return one day!! Better green and pink than cranberry and navy!

Gorgeous! I just incorporated blush into our bedroom with navy and white buffalo plaid. It really added a feminine touch. I look forward to your posts.
