As you know, we have been thrifting *a bit* recently and I have been bringing home various pieces that have inspired me in one way or another. Maybe it is for an upcoming project, for a table setting, a furniture switch up or something different all together- like today’s treasures. This week, the finds are all about beautiful blooming blooms and events- a trio of vintage wicker floral stands.
Vintage Wicker Floral Trumpet Vase Stands
I will be honest. I walked right.past. these when I was shopping the thrift store with a friend and our daughters. I was focused on chatting away and looking for something else and didn’t even stop and pause until we were on our way out. As we walked by- I noticed the first one and then saw another on the other side of the table. We took a closer look but we couldn’t find a price so we were discussing them when one of the store associates walked by and saw us looking at them and offered to get a price while we chatted.

We picked one up and set it out by itself. I imagined it filled with beautiful wedding blooms & all kinds of nostalgic floral magic. My friend & I also briefly thought of funeral florals – that said, upon closer inspection, there was a sticker pasted to the inside that advertised a business as a ‘Wedding Florist’ so we just went with that haha.
The store associate came back and said she actually had a third one over in another corner that was a tad smaller and she got us a bargain for all 3- she could do around $25 each of them. I am all about 3’s when it comes to flowers- I know it is a weird thing but 3 vases of blooms on the table is always going to win over 2. More is more And so, a third vintage basket flower stand just a tad shorter? Yes, please. I looked at my friend and nodded and said ‘ok doing it.‘ and we hauled them off to the front.
I always ask myself if I will regret not getting something and have to make a dash back. These were a on the fence for me initially. First -hesitate. Then a maybe… then I went there with the idea of the event venue and figured for the price, I could probably sell for that if deciding they weren’t keepers. And they would look beautiful for photos as well So, they became a yes.
Set of 3 Vintage Wicker Floral Basket Stands
The sticker inside looked to be from the 40’s or since it had a wedding florists business name pasted inside, I imagine the three of them are all from around the same time. 2 of them are a match in size and are probably around 4′ tall, the third is slightly shorter but they are all in wonderful vintage shape and look very similar. They are all one piece and the base is weighted and has a wood bottom. There were several other types of random tall floral pedestals at the thrift that day so I am guessing old florist stock, vintage shop stock or a closed venue business or something that donated all of them.

Average Cost of Antique Floral Trumpet Stands
Well, I suppose that kind of depends on where you get them, what party of the country you are in and what things go for in your area. I googled and found that they ranged from $150 each to $750 for a pair. So either way, the thrift store price was a bargain.
I apologize- I only photographed one. I know I should have placed all three together and I actually thought I had taken a photo of the 3 of them when I bought them. But I can’t find it. They are currently all tucked aside out of the weather just waiting for the right setting to bring them out for a proper shoot.

I love the basket weaving details on them and how sweet they look filled with flowers. I can just imagine these wicker floral stands styled for a wedding and a filling them with a proper arrangement rather than just what I plopped in there for the photo. They will be absolutely beautiful and honestly, I can see using them for quite a few different stylings. Stay tuned for something fun coming your way with these in the next few weeks.

Love them or leave them- what would you have done?

Happy Friday friends.
Love them!
I actually bought two of these same baskets about 25 years ago at an antique shop. I don’t remember how much I paid for them, but I know it wasn’t much. I used them in my daughter’s wedding, actually 3 of the 4 girls used them. They looked great and regardless of the color THEMES; I was able to change up the bouquets and they always looked great. I will be excited to see what you do with yours. I still have mine stored in the attic above the garage. Maybe one of the grandchildren will use them…
Hate to ssy it but the trumpet stands look TOO funereal for my TASTE. I WOULD HAVE LEFT THRM. But keep on showing us your GREAT thrifting scoRES!
I Have one, Mine has Barbola flowers, like a vine, wrapped around body, and then around the edge of the base. I love mine abd have never seen another one like it.
Honestly courtney, anything you touch is GOLDEN🩷 Somehow I think drapey blooms and vines and your gorgeous old English roses, and peonies will feel right at home! ALWAYS trust yourself 💐
Happy Spring indeed!
We called those “funeral Flowers” containers…60-70 years ago…

What a bargain! Love, love, love wicker baskets like these. I also collect the smaller baskets with the large loop handle. i prefer to think of them as wedding baskets but i do have a heavy metal one with a basket weave that said it was a funeral basket and was made not to tip over. I still love it. you will enjoy these. i think of creeping jenny hanging over the sides.
Love find
love it! I have 1 like the tall one and others in different shapes I thrifted years ago. they are funeral baskets but people have used them for dining table flower decor and other decor. look at magazines that show them used as decor. it’s like putting an outdoor concrete statue on indoor table…you scored Courtney. Great eye for taste in decor.
They would be pretty behind SOMETHING shorter to hide the skinny base and with draping ivy and other greenery. I also think of funerals when i see these but if they are in the back of a grouping of other plants they would be fine.
absolutely gorgeous! I agree with the above comment. you are golden! I would definitely have bought all three. I love white wicker. I have a short footed white wicker that’s very similar. it has a high round handle . I use it every spring and summer. love it. thanks for the inspiration with the flowers you put in yours. I always used artificial. now I’m going to use real ones.
I remember containers exactly like yours used in weddings when i was a little girl
So beautiful!
It’s a no for me.
Not my thing but you always have a way of creating bueaty. They do look “FUNERAL” to me. I look forward to Seeing how you use them. I would also like yoU know where you trift? I rarely (sometimes) find treasures like you do…
Wow!! Beautiful! I have so much very old wicker…I love that old feel you get when styling it just so. I like your PHOTOGRAPHs. Great scrores!
You scored Courtney I saw these decadesb ago at church at Easter. They were filled with Easter Lillies and they had potted Easter lillies around each wicker vase, the whole area was beautiful and Spring ready. Love wicker and I can’t wait to see what you do.
I love them!!! there has to be a way to also use them for festive occasions..such as balloons for birthdays, flags for july 4th. I’m ready for a happening now.
When I was a small flower girl in the 1950’s these baskets held large bouquets on each side of the church altar. I had a matching handle basket for the petals I threw. :}
Those are wicker funeral baskets. Used to place flowers in around the deceased back in the 1800’s. A little too creepy for me knowing their origin, so I would have to pass on these!
