Simple. Natural. Elegant- yet with a touch of rustic.
I am kind of a mix of all of the above with the mantel decor in the living room this year.
This year- it seems I am feeling extra simple in my decor.
I am craving that ambiance and twinkle- but with less fuss and less busy.
More natural and just simple elements like bowls of baubles
sprigs of juniper and wee vintage pots with trees.

The living room this year
is all about shades and layers of neutrals and simple charm.
I shared a peek at our twinkling frosted Balsam Hill tree on Monday and today am sharing the mantel and joining my
friend Kristen and other talented friends for our Christmas living rooms and trees.
Here is a closer look at the mantel this year.
I honestly had no idea what direction I wanted to go in here this year.
Usually, I like a garland- but I wanted it to feel lighter- and we do use this fireplace which tend to dry the fresh garland out in just a few days.
So I decided on just decorating the top of the mantel this year.
I started out layering a few fresh greens- juniper clippings and eucalyptus from the SF Flower Market
and then I added a favorite Balsam Hill flocked garland to the back to fill in the mantel a bit more.
This is one I have had for several years- I always love to incorporate it into the decor- and it echoes the frosted tree next to it.
I added several vintage brass candlesticks
and then hung the knit stockings to one side- away from the fire box.
Just a few of the new French Country Gold Ornaments for a bit of glam-
and it was perfect.
I love the various layers that it has.
The wreath is a beautiful frosted Wispy Winter Twig wreath
it is a gorgeous big wreath that makes a subtle statement- and is battery operated and has a timer- so it will turn on for a bit of extra twinkle.
So beautiful at night glowing away above the fireplace.
And I am admittedly obsessed with all of them.
These might be some of my favorite collections so far.
Simple and sweet with a touch of elegance- on repeat.
What do you think of how this years living room decor turned out so far?
I am always tweaking here and there- and might already have one more tree twinkling away in this room as we speak.

Beautiful! I’m trying to find a spot about your use of mirrors. Did you paint the ornate one? I love mirrors and you’re a girl of my decorating style. Have a great Thanksgiving.
