Something simple and sweet for autumn decor – and the best part? So inexpensive. This styling uses dried flowers and thrift store finds to create an autumn moment.

Thrift Store Finds
I mean, who knew that a stop at a thrift store would bring a bag of delightful dried gourds and a gorgeous basket that would be perfect inspiration for an autumn styling? But it actually gets even better because something else from the thrift store inspired me too.
Dried Gourds
I bumped into a bag filled with these beautiful dried gourds and instantly picked them up to look at them. They all have a lovely neutral creamy color and are various shapes and sizes- and the bag was just a few dollars so before I even had a chance to look it over- it was in my cart.

Tip: Check thrift stores, tag sales and online sales for older autumn decor elements to save. Oftentimes people will get rid of seasonal decor and plan to buy again next year.
I thought of about a dozen different places I could use them during the autumn season and so I was pretty excited with this find. We finished up our shopping and went on to the next stop on our thrifting route and I bumped into this beautiful footed basket.

When I got home, I set the gourds in the basket to get them out of the bag and just like that, a simple autumn moment appeared.
Brass Bowl
While I was working on getting a few pumpkins together and a few more things to set up to photograph today’s post, I saw this brass bowl full of now dried flowers in the background and was inspired to bring a bit of dried floral color over. It was a perfect mix and mingle.
Tip: Think outside the vase when looking for a container for flowers. For this- a beautiful vintage brass punch bowl was a lovely vessel.

The brass bowl was also a thrift store find from a few months back and though we do have the brass cups and could use it as a brass bowl- you know I looked at it and thought ‘flowers’. That is the usual thing you would think of right? I used tape and created a grid and along with the flower frogs put together a charming arrangement for a table and then enjoyed it as it slowly started to dry and those flowers preserved beautifully. I am a big dried flowers girl too- so I have been enjoying them just like this but was almost ready to take it apart when I saw the gourds and the dried flowers in the background and knew it would go together beautifully.

Tip: For a similar look, you can use fresh flowers, dried grasses or any type of dried flower you have on hand. I simply used what was drying in the container already but use what works best for you.
Thrifty centerpiece
For just $5 and shopping what I had on hand (the dried flowers and brass punch bowl) a simple and sweet vignette appeared that is perfect for an accent table, a centerpiece or sideboard display.

Lovely! What friends? Lol I didnt see a link??
Awesome idesa, love the flowers brass bowl. Thank you for the tips.
So pretty. I’m kicking myself because i didn’t purchase a large bowl made of what appeared to be brass last week at a thrift store because it was not yet discounted. It would have made a potential container similar to your wonderful brass punch bowl.
Okay, so this is one of my FAVORITES to date. Any idea what that basket is called and where i could get one, seriously. Please reply! And if you ever decide to sell it and those great gourds please email me. THANK YOU
