I took each and every ornament
off the living room tree the other day.
One by one I tucked them into pretty little boxes
that help keep them safe while they are stored away until next Christmas season.
Which will start a lot sooner than you think over here.
😉
And when the ornaments were tucked away
and the tree was unplugged
and moved…
I turned around to go over to take down that Christmas garland on the mantel.
And I stopped.
I saw the flickering light of the fire glowing
and the eucalyptus dotted with lambs ear leaves
eucalyptus pods
and that old leftover Christmas garland
said winter warmth to me.
Sure that garland is a little on the crispy side at this point…
but, I decided I was okay with it.
Because dried eucalyptus is nearly just as pretty as fresh in my mind.
So, I grabbed a few more dried peonies and other greens
and tucked them here and there
and then added flickering LED candles.
And called it good.
About as simple as it comes when taking something left over from one season
and reusing it for another.
About as simple as it comes when taking something left over from one season

And since my previously planned post did not get wrapped and ready to go due to
our winter storm weather issues
and with so many questions about a closer look at this-
a repurposed
garland seems even more perfect for sharing for
winter decorating ideas.
I am joining these great bloggers sharing a few ideas for
warming up your home for winter
and coming your way next week
I will be sharing
a closer peek at that new old mantel
and another simple winter styling
as well as the easiest way to dry peonies like a pro.
Hope your Friday is off to a great start.

Courtney, that's beautiful and doesn't look at all like Christmas so why not indeed.

Simply lovely!! It sure helps to make an easier transition from the beautiful Christmas decorations to spring flowers. I love the warmth of the faux candles. I could have them everywhere and spend a fortune on batteries. Have a wonderful weekend.

Just beautiful Courtney. I too left up my garland on the mantel… I just removed the few red Christmas balls I had in it and left the dried magnolias, deep red berries and pine cones. Perfectly winter to me 🙂
