Oh how I love to set a pretty table. And that starts with planning all the table setting layer details like the linens, the candles, the flowers, the twinkle lights and ambiance. It is all about the layers of lovely when it comes to table setting and today I am sharing 5 of my best tips for a table setting that dazzles your guests. Table Setting Layers
It is all in the details as they say and on the table- it is all in those table setting layer details.
Tip Number 1: It is all about the start of the layers.
Layers on the table start with the base. Do you want a simple rustic backdrop for your setting? Leave the cloth in the closet. Or more refined and elegant? Bring the cloth out and layer it with another like a runner or a center cloth.
Tip number 2: Then it is onto the place settings, the flowers, etc.
Bring in a pattern plate to echo the pretty in the cloth-especially if the cloth is plain and not a visually busy pattern. Or use a more simple plain visually ‘clean’ plate that mingles beautifully with the colors and pattern if using a patterned cloth.
Tip number 3: The flowers are such an important part of the layers- choose what speaks to you and that compliments the overall setting.
Choose pretty pastels for a softer look or go big and bold and beautiful for more drama. I like them both on the table so it kind of also depends on my overall mood that day. Skip one larger arrangement in favor of 2 or 3 marching down the table for a charming look that echo’s the beauty.
Tip number 4: Ambiance is key.
Ambiance is such a big part of any table setting and it is such an important table setting layer. Bring in candles for a soft flicker, choose overhead lights like string lights or add some battery operated fairy light strands or lanterns- or a mix and mingle of several of them for even more magic.
Tip Number 5: Echo the ambiance and florals
This is such a fun way to create even more beauty in the backdrop for your table. Place lanterns in the background for more glowy magic. Add flowers in pots on tables or in the area in the backdrop. Add hanging baskets of flowers in tree branches for a bit more drama – and add some fairy light magic to the tree as well.
By creating layers of lovely on your table-your guests are sure to be dazzled and enjoy a gathering to remember.

Beautiful and lovely but how in the world do you keep wax from ruining your tablecloths. dripping candles. I love a dripping candle but I don’t love the wax mess clean up. Any tips on that?
I usually place them on small vintage dishes or even a little piece of wax paper for extended burning times if it is breezy and they are getting a bit too drippy and landing on the tablecloth. (for the photos, I only lit them briefly) But if some wax does land on it, I just wait for it to dry and pull it off.

It is from several years ago- unfortunately was on clearance when I found them so not sure they are available now. Lots of requests for them so will do some sourcing and find some links for similar if I can’t find exact again and share soon.
