The flowers are in bloom…
well, in these paintings and prints at least!
I am always keeping my eyes out for pretty vintage flower paintings and prints.
Occasionally,
I find some great ones at the thrift stores or flea markets.
Looking through stacks of random frames or old prints-
sometimes there will be one mixed in the bunch.
Love them all, but old oil paintings are my favorite.
I found this large one at the flea market for $5.00
and lucked out finding the fantastic gesso frame that fit it just a few rows over
for $10.00.
Love little smaller ones sitting on a frenchy chair in the hall
or grouped together on a wall or shelf.
The old chippy frames, thick brush strokes & spider crackles
in the paint from age are fantastic.
There is just something about the patina on an old oil painting.
Love it.
It’s rainy, rainy, rainy here today
so thought a few pictures of blooming beauties
might brighten it up a bit.
Just a quick post today~off to work on some projects!
Happy Tuesday everyone!

They are beautiful Courtney. I was thinking "There's just something about oil paintings, and there texture" and scrolled a few lines down and read almost the same words.

It was cloudy and gloomy and sleepy here today, too!
The paintings and prints made me smile especially the geraniums-yum.
My favorite flower, in red, on the porch or deck, every year!
I love old gessoed frames, too! In fact, I just won one in an auction a few weeks ago and it now graces my mantle near my hydrangeas (brothers and sisters of the ones I sent you!) in an ironstone pitcher 🙂
I must keep an eye out for more vintage florals!
HUGS to you, Courtney!
Thanks for the cheer-up!!
